I’m currently in the middle of my week-long vacation at the Grand Luxxe Resort, part of a large resort community in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. It’s a beautiful place. I’m not used to the level of luxury! I’m usually dirt cheap when it comes to vacations, but splurged on this one since it came at a better price since I accompanied friends who are members of the resort. I’m here with two couples, one in their 60s (you’d never tell they were in their 60s) and one in their 50s (you’d never tell they were in their 50s). And I am happily the fifth wheel. And the one who acts the oldest and grumpiest!

Rooftop Hammocks + Pools

Anywho, we snapped these photos on the rooftop pool area after a little excursion beyond the resort to Walmart. Our hope was to find a local grocer, but Walmart was the best option and we stocked up on breakfast foods, deli meats and snacks instead of eating out for every meal at the Grand Luxxe. I’m very much a routine person and even though this place is heavenly, I’m a little uncomfortable with the lack of routine. I’ve been reminding myself to enjoy the laidback atmosphere and soak it all in before I’m launched back into work stress. I don’t like drinking much, but I’ve been ordering fruity drinks to try (usually sip a few sips and give it away), but even that is satisfying! I’ve tried different variations of pina coladas and sangrias and even a sip makes me feel young and hip and like I’m making the most of my vacation.

My Fave Swimmies + Where to Shop

I packed nine or ten suits for the trip and I’ve gotten a lot of questions on Facebook and Instagram about where I’ve gotten them so I wanted to share a few of mine, plus some others I’m loving.

Chubbies suits! I love how these fit. I have three of these and the size medium fit perfectly on my 5’4″130-pound frame.

L Space bikinis and swimsuits! The one I’m wearing on Instagram is from last season, but found it here and it’s on sale. I ordered the size 8–this particular one runs a little small! If you like the style of this one, I found a similar one by Becca and I feel like I need this one too. I’ve read great reviews of it by other bloggers.

Target swim separates, of course. I love these high waist bottoms. I just snagged at Target for $17 and they mix and match well with my other print bikini tops, plus with the tie-up sides, they allow for some adjustment! I bought them in size medium. I also love this embroidered one piece, just $34!

Gap swim. I ordered this off the shoulder bikini top from Gap for my trip and a striped one piece that’s been my favorite so far, but I can’t find that one online anymore, but some similar ones are here and here with some color from Gap. And they’re on sale!

And I’ve gotten some one-pieces and random bikini tops from Nordstrom in the last year. Just stumbled upon this black one piece (but also comes in a colorful version) or this similar checkered version and I love how simple and classic the style is! I have something similar to this floral off the shoulder ruffle bikini top. I styled mine with my Target high waist shorts!

And for some more fun, colorful ones that I want so bad it hurts. I pretty much love every suit by Solid and Striped, this pretty one piece by Milly, a colorful oversized floral print one piece and all of the swimwear by Tularosa. And lastly, this pink print one-piece has been haunting me. I SHOULD’VE ordered it before the trip and I went ahead and ordered while I’m on vacation for this summer!

My Cover Ups + Shop My Faves

And don’t forget the cover-ups! I love this striped linen kaftan so much and disappointed I didn’t find it until it was too late to order for my trip! This black, semi-sheer cover up with the side slits is also on my shopping list. I bought this white lace kimono top and this cream crochet cover-up and been wearing both on repeat this week!
