Since I have an intense amount of travel anxiety, I have a few tricks to make the whole experience more positive which includes packing just a personal item (then I don’t have to worry about if and where to stuff my carry on suitcase), downsizing my beauty and skincare regimen to the key pieces and bringing only travel sizes and over-the-counter pain relief/anti-nausea meds.
If I can’t pack just a personal item, I try my best to ensure I can board sooner so that I have peace of mind that I will have overhead space for carry-on (this has been a huge issue flying this year.) I fly mostly Delta now and upgrade to Comfort + when it’s more affordable which ensures I will be one of the first few groups to board. I also plan to look into the Delta credit card so I’m not automatically the last zone to board when I fly even though I pay to upgrade my seat to window seat towards the front of the plane. I did some research on this and realize the credit card would help me board sooner!

Meds and Supplements that Help
I swear by these motion sickness patches. I place one behind an ear before I get in the car and drive to an airport (generally drive one hour to Detroit or GR.) With these, I haven’t felt nauseated or sick on flights. I also grab travel size Advil vials and take a couple before a flight. Since I’m prone to migraines, I always take Advil to help with any pain, but I also pack Excedrin Migraine and my prescription migraine medication.
I also usually pack these Rescue plant patch (put on after the flight throughout the night.) I forgot them this trip and luckily, I’ve felt pretty good, but it’s always about taking preventative measures. I also usually pack Liquid IV hydration packets. I think these taste gross, but they really help me feel better.
In the past, I’ve also scheduled B12 shots before a flight. I always have more energy and sleep better after one of those shots and highly recommend.
Travel Size Essentials
My lips and hands are constantly dry so I always make sure I have a mini Aveda hand lotion on hand with a couple lip balm options like the Gucci glow lipstick and Summer Fridays lip butter balm.
I usually pack a couple travel size fragrance options, but I left probably five perfume options at Rob’s place in Mobile and the Kayali mini vanilla scent was just too good to leave behind.
Since I streamline my make up, I have to leave behind the bulky powders I have at home and bring the mini Charlotte Tilbury setting powder. This has a great finish that even my dry skin appreciates.
Versatile Clothing
Packing just a personal item is made easier by the fact that I have clothes, skincare and beauty products all at Rob’s along with my hair products and tools–so I don’t need to take much with me.
It’s also hot AF down here so I don’t need bulky layers. But when I travel, I try to plan on wearing the same outfit I traveled in on to reduce an outfit in my carry on and pick pieces that I already know I love and feel confident in–that mix and match with other items. For example, I packed one pair of Agolde shorts that would mix with any of the tank top and three tees I packed, but those tops would also look good with the athletic shorts and Lululemon joggers I flew in wearing. I packed one pair of sandals, although I did wear the Golden Goose sneakers I have at Rob’s quite a bit on the trip.
