ย There’s nothing more versatile than a pair of black skinny jeans. They’re flattering on every body shape and go with virtually everything in your closet. It was that one piece that was missing from my closet. It’s probably because I wear leggings every day, but I needed a real pair of jeans that made me feel confident and fit perfectly.
I snagged these high waist skinny jeans at the Madewell store downtown Detroit last weekend since I loved the style and how well they fit. I ignored the number on the label and went up a size to make sure the fit was perfect. And I couldn’t wait to slip out of my sagging, not-so-flattering jeans that I put the new ones on in the car minutes after buying them.
The Perfect Jean
I love the vintage and vintage style jeans, but I need some stretch and a mid to high rise waist. I just feel my best in a higher rise and jeans that have a little breathing room with the stretch. I also prefer ankle length jeans so if I can’t buy them petite like I did here, I’ll get them tailored a little shorter to be the length I prefer.
I’ve been buying most of my jeans from Madewell since my denim preferences are always shoppable there. They’re such high quality and budget-friendly typically priced just over $100. I’ve gone higher end and lower end in jeans and this is the happy medium that works for me.
This particular pair is priced at $135 with a 9 inch rise and a petite inseam, but they’re available for tall, taller and regular height too.
Styling this Look
Black on black is a natural choice for me with a statement coat. Winter is far from my favorite season, but I do love outerwear and spicing up rather minimal looks with a fun coat choice.
I’m especially loving rust and camel tones and a teddy coat or shearling for outerwear like these super cute options here. I really really like how the ankles are cut out, I definitely have to buy myself another pair of black skinny jeans, I only have one and I’d love to have more of them, with little variations like the ankles on these ones !
