Sweater dresses and tunics have always been my work wardrobe go-to and even with working from home and pretty much going nowhere but home, I find them functional, warm and easy to style. I wanted to share two ways to style a sweater dress for holiday (and beyond!)
One is a little more dressy for a limited family gathering perhaps and the other is a more casual, but cool style idea that also works for the holidays. I’m wearing this dress, but check out this one and this nearly identical one 50% off.
Dressier Sweater Dress Style
I styled the dressier sweater dress look with tall black boots, delicate necklaces, a matching grey beret (love this slouchy beret and this $20 option!) and cat eye sunglasses. Accessories and shoes make all the difference with a sweater dress.
I love tall boots like these or these or over the knee boots like these Steve Madden boots on sale and while I skipped tights or nylons here, I love the idea of sheer and/or printed tights like this herringbone pair or these.
The knit coatigan I’m wearing can be styled casually too, and I think everyone needs something similar in their closet. Mine is from Mango last year but they have a similar version on sale this year or this sale coat. This poncho coat is an oversized version that I love too. This one is on major sale as well!
Casual Sweater Dress Style
The second look is much more casual with leggings and lace up boots (my Fendi boots are about sold out but this Fendi pair is the same, just more logo print on the knit.) This pair and this pair are affordable lace boots.
I’ll wear this with my everyday leggings, but the Spanx moto leggings make it a little more edgy and cool. I’ve had these for a few years now and one of my most worn items in my closet every winter. I have this plain faux leather leggings style!
I layered the sweater dress with camo jacket from Retail Therapy but this fleece camo jacket is similar and almost feel like I need this one too!
