Summer Lovin’: An Ode to Gingham

Two weeks ago, my friend Ellen showed up to lunch in the sweetest $30 gingham maxi dress and ever since then, I’ve been gravitating towards the print. I even bought the same dress she wore, but also a gingham bathing suit, an embroidered romper and now this tie front top. I’m on a roll!

Gimme Gingham

I love this particular gingham top–I could wear it to work with high waist pants or on the weekends with denim cut offs. It’s been a little chilly back in Michigan so I styled with jeans and topped of with a hat–super simple, but the shirt is fun enough to keep everything else simple!

If you’re looking for a super cute gingham dress, this off-the-shoulder number would be fun for vaca, if you like a little color, this yellow swing dress would be perfect for an outdoor event or play up the red and plaid trend for spring/summer with this red, tiered mini dress, so damn cute!

Seaway Motel

Growing up in Muskegon, I drove by this motel often. My grandparents live down the road, Meijer is across the street and the beach is just a five minute drive from this spot. I thought it was such a cool place, mainly because they had a pool and what kid doesn’t get excited over a pool?

Now I appreciate the retro sign and finally stopped to snap a few pics outside of it and realize what a shithole that place is. I wonder if it was ever a fancy motel. My perception of what’s nice was skewed as a kid, I thought people who had nice siding on their house were rich folk.
