It’s back to gloom in Michigan. Everything looks dead and sad in Lansing–except for my sweater. It was a nice 38 degrees and it felt like a mini heat wave, which let me better display my bold striped sweater, no coat necessary.
Weekending
I gave myself a full day off from work last Saturday. No freelance work or blog photos, just a day trip to Grand Rapids to visit my friend Jen and her awesome crew where we kicked off our day with coffee at Corridor Coffee, shopping the Very Merry Market filled with local artisans and vendors at Grand Rapids Downtown Market and then concluded our girls’ day with drinks and mozz sticks at Broadway Bar.
Fun doesn’t come easily to me. I usually stay within my comfort zone (which is a very small, radius of boring) and have too many work/freelance commitments to really ever disconnect. I’m distracted by worries of getting the right blog photos, eating the right foods and the right amount, and getting home early. I’m this little ball of anxiety, but these girls unwound me and I had one of the best Saturdays, work-free and worry-free. Hoping to replicate that experience more weekends!
Bold Stripe Sweaters to Shop
Alright, back to sweaters. The sweater embodies me having fun on a Saturday, ha! I’m a huge fan of stripes, particularly black and white stripes–but this bold striped version was the first thing to catch my eye at Le Fleur a few weeks ago. I was trying to figure out how to style it and for me, it was keeping it fun and casual. Jeans, platform oxfords and an ivory wool hat I bought from Le Fleur.
A few of my favorites include this Madewell sweater with blush, mustard and other complementary colors I love, this seventies style Topshop sweater, and this striped ribbed sweater would be perfect tucked into high waist wide leg pants or underneath overalls. If you’re into chenille and its softness, this striped sweater is bright and cozy.

I’m not normally one to wear bright colours, but I love your sweater! It’s so cheery, perfect to counter the winter blues! 🙂
