Swim Print Mixing
I’m back from vaca and sharing my last post from Mexico–and easily my favorite pool look from the trip. I’d like to say the perfect poolside style is really whatever you feel most comfortable and confident in! And for me, I use swimwear as a way to wear bolder, more colorful colors and prints than I do in my typical day to day life. I feel the best in bright or printed suits! And I’ve been a little more adventurous with pool cover-ups too like this Rachel Zoe duster I tossed on.
Poolside Style
Let’s break down the key components of a comfortable, chic poolside style and how you might interpret that for yourself. For me, nailing the poolside style includes:
A swimsuit you feel amazing in (I personally feel best in a plunging one-piece! Still feel like I’ve got some sex appeal, but feel a little more covered up!) I also have finally become comfortable with mixing bikini tops and bottoms. I used to be such a stickler for them matching or being worn with the coordinating piece I bought it with. But, I’ve found so many comfortable, trendy and super affordable separate pieces from Target and Nordstrom that end up giving me a million more options. I still cannot say enough good things about the high waist black bottoms, just $17 and they mix and match with all my swim tops! I’m also obsessed with this ruffly set! Also, Target is running a buy one, get the second half off so I’m about to add some of these items to my cart now.
Of course, a swim cover-up that’s easy to slip on and off. I like this beach tunic, it has a similar print to the one I’m wearing just $20. I also love sale this crocheted tunic–comes in black and white and I have something similar at home that I wear each summer to the beach. I also love the idea of wearing pieces perhaps not necessarily meant for the pool or beach like this duster or a colorful, loose romper.
The Right Accessories
Slip-on sandals too. These Dansko ones I’m sporting are incredibly comfortable and light–and come in different colors, I highly recommend. Birks are a classic choice, I packed mine and I love this color! I’m also loving these Gucci slides and these Soludos braided slides, so so pretty!
A beach/pool tote! I made a mistake with not getting a better pool/beach bag in time for the trip so I used my Louis Vuitton bag, but would have preferred a cute straw tote like this oversized circle basket bag just $49, this embroidered star one I just love or this embroidered palm and fringe version. Aaand I just found the perfect classic tote for under $100. I don’t know which one to get myself, scratch that, I went for the embroidered palm, colorful version–just ordered! I do want a plain one too!
Fun sunnies. I love sunglasses. They easily and affordably can change up a look. My favorite line is Quay sunglasses. They’re affordable, trendy and virtually indestructible. I also love Le Specs. The price point is a little higher than Quay, but they’re great quality and the ones I’ve had by them, I’ve had for years which says a lot since I destroy them and/or grow tired of the same ones. These narrow cat eye ones are so hot right now!
