Sunday Routine
There’s no such thing of a no plans weekend in my life. I’m a planner and I find as I become more of an adult (I’m 31 but I still feel young AF), I have to plan out my weekends. Visiting friends in other states, booking freelance work, I just end up filling all my weekends up with stuff.
Last weekend was no exception, but Sunday was pretty flexible and a good example of how I spend a weekend day when I’m in town. Read on for my weekend routine!
8 AM
Wake up without an alarm. Cole is usually out of bed on weekends before me and this day was no exception. He lets James outside in my backyard and I lay in bed looking at my phone. I’m obsessive compulsive with emails and I like to be as close to zero in my inbox on work and personal email. So I check it and delete sales emails. 10 minutes later, I get up to feed the pup and Cole makes my bed. He always makes beds. I hardly do this on my own unless I have visitors.
9 AM
I munch on my granola bar on the way to the gym. We stay for 45 minutes and do the stair climber. I last ten minutes at one of the slowest possible settings and we do abs and stretch together and take it easy. I should’ve done more, but I haven’t felt the most motivated lately.
10 AM
We stop by Meijer on the way home so I can pick up some essentials like a 24 pack of Sprite Zero, James’ refrigerated pet food and frozen breakfast sandwiches. Cole hates crowds and is just as impatient as me so we speed through the store, bitch about people in our way and get the hell out of there.
10:30 AM
I make protein pancakes (half protein powder, half pancake mix) and bacon in the oven. I take pretty photos of Cole’s plate because mine is one single burnt pancake smothered in peanut butter on a paper plate (my favorite). Cole eats so much and likes syrup, I always give him a real plate. When he’s over on weekends and I don’t have too much shit to do, I like to make breakfast and it’s usually protein pancakes and bacon.
11:30 AM
Cole runs home while I edit some family photos I’m behind on. I also furiously clean parts of my home since it got out of control messy last week. I change out of my gym clothes and pack my camera for Retail Therapy freelance photo work.
12:30 PM
Typically once a week I book time to photograph new products at Retail Therapy. I’ve been helping Celeste with photography and social media for more than two years now and even though it’s work, it’s something I enjoy doing and it gets me out and social when my natural preference is to be a hermit at home. We photograph new shoes and take a few short videos to share on social for the week. And we take some fun photos. I love Celeste and Maggie!
1:30 PM
I get home and decide to change for the third time in one day. Cole and I made plans to visit a corn maze on Friday, but I was stressed out and crabby that we decided it was best to push it off to Sunday. I change back into leggings and a sweatshirt and we head to Shawhaven in Mason, MI.
2:30 PM
The corn maze is not as difficult as the one we tried last year on our third or fourth date. We wander for maybe 30 minutes and visit the donkeys and goats again before leaving. We cruise around downtown Mason before heading home. It’s really such a cute downtown and reminds me I should return, and also take blog photos there.
3:30 PM
We usually make dinner very early on Sunday since we’re basically old people. I make nachos while Cole packs away my patio furniture. James floats between the kitchen and the couch.
4 PM
We scarf down food on the couch and I’m finally able to convince him to watch Interstellar after we can finally nothing else to watch.
8 PM
Movie is finally over and we take James out for a quick walk before bed time. Cole heads home and I take a shower and get ready for bed.
9 PM
After a shower and picking up my house a little, I make a mini to do list of action items I must do before work tomorrow including queuing up some blog posts, editing more photos, answering emails and picking out what to wear to work tomorrow. I find I’m less anxious if I answer any outstanding emails and figure out my outfit for the next day before a new week start.

I’m amazed you wake up so early on a Sunday. I often laze in bed ’till the afternoon or so!
