My Travel Capsule Wardrobe Packing Tips

I’ve gotten smarter with packing this year with increased travel to see Rob and my goal is to pack as little as possible, but maintain some semblance of my style without being boring. Here are some travel packing tips I have to create a capsule wardrobe for any trip.

Write Out Your Packing List

I always, always type up my packing list AND type up what outfits I plan to wear which day. This helps ensure I have everything I need and outfits planned in advance.

Try It All On Before You Pack It

Now that I typed up my outfits, I try everything on and take mirror selfies to document the looks and I mix and match the other outfits to ensure I have plenty of versatility with what I pack because sometimes what I plan isn’t what I want to wear and I love giving myself more options.

Even my pajamas are pieces I could wear during the day like this super soft Vuori tee that I wore to bed everynight, but also wore during the day in Atlanta AND on the way home (my hotel room had in-unit laundry!)

Pack Your Reliable Faves

Travel outfits is not where I go outside my comfort zone or try to be extra bold for a photo opp. I stick to tried-and-true pieces I know I feel comfortable in. This goes for shoes too. I pack for comfort first, then style. I packed only two pairs of shoes this trip: a pair of white Celine sneakers and a pair of black mules which can be dressed up, but still easy to meander in all day.

I always pack Lululemon joggers, an Anine Bing sweatshirt, a baseball cap (packed this one but love this budget friendly Amazon version) and at least one pair of jeans I love (packed these Madewell jeans and these Agolde Riley jeans.)

I also always carry this Louis Vuitton Palm Springs PM backpack. It’s endured a lot of wear and tear and holds up well and it’s the perfect size for travel. I love not fussing with a bag on my shoulder at the airport and I can fit a surprising amount of items in this thing.
