Following Elodie Boutique‘s spring refresh event last Saturday, I felt inspired to refresh part of my wardrobe, mix up the hair and give my skin the extra love it needed. And luckily this Monday, I already had a hair color appointment and hydra facial at Douglas J Okemos Salon scheduled.
Spring/Summer Hair
I think I’ve mentioned this a few times, but last year my goal was to do very little with my hair color. I had balayage done twice last year, once in January and once in June and got maybe two to three light trims. My hair had been recovering from bleach for the last three or four years and so I wanted to give a break from everything, but alas, it is healthy!
I made an appointment with Beth at Douglas J who is married to Jason who just cut my hair (yep, I’ve got the power couple in charge of my hair!) And we went a little more blonde. I got a lot of the blonde ombre chopped out during my cut and I wanted a little more blonde, but still very natural. And I love it! It’s the perfect shade for spring and summer.
Fresh Skin
I love the HydraFacial. I’ve gotten them twice before and found my skin to be so smooth after and I knew it was time for another one because I started to get some congestion on my cheeks, little bumps here and there. I learned that Douglas J actually had the HydraFacial and so they gifted me a treatment that both relaxed and rejuvenated me, but very much gave me a much needed medical grade treatment to my skin. What is it you ask? It’s a treatment that to me, is much like a vacuum, gently cleansing, exfoliating and extracting anything from your pores.
The first step to the Hydrafacial is cleaning the skin and exfoliation. The esthetician Tammy used the tool to sweep away dead skin cells and open the pores up for the next step. After that, I had an acid peel. And this isn’t one that makes you feel uncomfortable or even tingle. It was extremely gentle. Next comes the extraction phase. This part includes a nozzle that acts like a vacuum sucking everything out of your pores. Then, she used red light therapy to help calm my skin (it’s sensitive and prone to redness) and then she applied an antioxidant serum to hydrate my skin.
We ended the treatment with what they call an “eye perk” and this is an add on where I could choose between a lip perk or an eye perk and they apply another serum and give you the left over bottle to use at home. The treatment also included a foot bath, aromatherapy, foot massage and lymphatic massage. Quite the spa treatment and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for deep clean for your skin and a little refresh!
Spring Style
I love Elodie Boutique and I scooped up this off-the-shoulder top before I left. I don’t usually wear much color, especially yellow, but I loved the print and wanted to step outside my comfort zone! Plus, I do love anything off-the-shoulder.
If you’re looking for these tops, you can message Elodie on Facebook and I have a few other favorites like this chiffon top that comes in many colors and is 40% off, this tiered off-the-shoulder dress in a rose print, so feminine or this long-sleeved top!
