The start of a new school year is like a new year to me even though I’ve been out of school for years. I’ve got some goals to take me through the end of the year to keep my emotional and physical health in check.
I’ve really upped my health and fitness in the last two months, working out three days a week and eating a much healthier, protein heavy diet, and a lot less sugar! Read on for more on what I’m doing this fall:
Socializing this Fall
I’ve become more and more of a recluse especially with bringing a new puppy home. I have to spend a lot more time with her and at home which honestly is great, but I do need to prioritize more socializing and time outside of my home. I’d like to tailgate at one MSU football game (and wear my new-to-me vintage MSU sweatshirt and new sneakers!)
Strength Training at Home and Lots of Dog Walks
I’ll be continuing strength training at home and perhaps get a gym membership to get me out and about more, aligning with my first goal. I’m also always taking long dog walks which is great for the dogs and my own mental and physical health. I’ve also started to take my dogs to different places for their walks which keeps it fresh as walking around the neighborhood every day has gotten stale for all of us.
Gifting Myself
I’ve never struggled with buying myself things, but I’m trying to be more thoughtful in my purchases and reward myself with some new fitness gear as I reach some of my health and fitness goals. I’ve been into cropped fitted tees for workouts, anything in chocolate brown and creams and any of these adidas tracksuits. I’ve gotten some of the wide leg pants that I love to wear working out paired with a fitted crop tee or sweatshirt. I’ve been getting excited to workout when I reach a goal and have a fresh fit to wear!
Continue My Relaxing Nighttime Routine
My evening routine is pretty relaxing and amazing. I shower each evening and lay in bed early and have been reading before going to bed instead of watching TV. I’m reading Fire & Blood by George R. R. Martin. I love fantasy books and memoirs and trying to find my next good book to read! I try to go to bed around 9ish since my puppy Colette wakes me up very early to potty and eat breakfast.
Meal Prepping Each Week
I’ve gotten back into the habit of meal prepping now that I’m focused on health and fitness again. I’ve researched recipes on Pinterest (check my Pinterest board!) and have been enjoying my weekly cooking (this recipe and this recipe are always made on repeat!) and now looking into healthier high protein bakes too like this pumpkin muffin recipe! I’m now preparing for crockpot season and can’t wait to bust that thing out and find healthier versions of casseroles to make too.
