A house is always a work in progress and I have a never-ending list of projects big and small I plan to tackle and it was time to refresh my living room. I wanted a little more sophistication.
What I’m Working With
I bought a beautiful sectional and media console from Bradly’s Home and Garden in Lansing’s Old Town that truly elevated this home but my previous coffee table was a bit of an eye sore with the new style direction I was going for. I wanted to find something unique and modern.
I also struggled with the rug in this room along with everything just looking too beige. The rug was too small for the space and everything sorted of blending in together. Basically, this room looked a little bland.
Elevating My Living Room
I partnered with Bradly’s to search for the best coffee table that matched my style, fit the room and my budget. I love this process of working with Bradly because I most of the time have an idea of what I want but I don’t under the concept of size and get overwhelmed easily. If left to my own devices, my couch would probably be too big for the living room and not work functionally for my lifestyle.
The first step when shopping for furniture, lighting or more at Bradlys and when you want more direction and help, is to have Bradly make a home visit to see the space you’re working with and get a better sense of the client’s style and lifestyle. The first thing Bradly said when he saw my old coffee table was that it was too tall which blew my mind because I could never put my finger on why I didn’t like my last marble coffee table. Once we chatted about what I was looking for, he did some research on his end and put together around 10 choices for me and I then had an appointment in-store at Bradly’s to see the options and make the purchase. It didn’t take me long to narrow it down to the faux marble coffee table and Bradly placed the order and it was delivered three weeks ago, and no delivery charge. Such a seamless experience. It’s also possible to work with Bradly’s if you live outside of Lansing and still have a similar experience virtually.
I took me a while to find the right rug and three rug purchases later, I found this textured rug from World Market that really pulls it all together. I added a couple textured black pillows for some more pop of color/contrast. Next on my list is to replace the curtains with something else that added more contrast.
Coffee Table Styling
I love coffee table books and drew some inspiration from boutique hotels on how they might arrange books. I stacked a petrified wood I bought from a store in Northern Michigan on top of a Jenni Kayne book along with smaller travel books with a Diptique candle. For some height, I added a vase with some faux stems. I prefer a little more minimally decorated coffee table and let the coffee table shine on its own. It’s a wow piece.
