The rest of my house might look like a shithole, but the living room in this house is complete! Took just two weeks to fully furnish, paint and decorate. Read on for all the details and changes:
The Paint
This room felt dark and sad before repainting it Sherwin Williams eider white. I chose this color for the whole house since I wanted to brighten it up and since I don’t plan to stay in this house for long, I want it to be a sellable, neutral color.
For a quick, cheap fix, I opted to paint the fireplace instead of replacing the builder grade tile. The tile was painted Sherwin Williams tri-corn black in matte. I have a professional painter I hire for all paint jobs, but she did tell me she primed the tile and painted two coats of the matte paint. And the beige mantle was a bit of risk (to me), but I recently saw a photo of something similar on Instagram and was super inspired. Plus, Rob’s mom gave me Sherwin Williams cool beige to use somewhere and this was the perfect tone for the fireplace.
Furniture
The sectional couch and cool console table in front of it are both from Bradly’s Home and Garden, a local store that I absolutely love for furniture and decor.
The matching black arch bookshelves are from Wayfair and the marble coffee table is from World Market along with the marble side table. For a quick, easy side table on the right side, I bought this black side table from Amazon.
The comfy black chair and matching foot stool is from Wayfair. Very easy to assemble!
The blackened wood table is from CB2 and the cream velvet chairs (two were bought from Houzz a year ago) but I found another pair from Amazon.
Lighting
The black and gold ceiling fan was a major upgrade from the sad, dirty ceiling fan it replaced. I also replaced the dining light with this black weaved pendant.
The floor lamp is from Target–and I LOVE this. It was challenging to assemble, I’ll note.
The Rest
The checked rug is from Ruggable. I need to get a larger rug still, but I’ll worry about that later!
The decorative vases like these are from H&M.
The blackout linen curtains are from Target with the black rods from Amazon. I used the black rings too–I like these to help lengthen the curtains and they make it easier to open and close the curtains.
This $10 chic cover makes the tissue box look chic!
