I’m not quite in a place where I’m ready to commit to a capsule wardrobe, but I’m seeing the trends of the clothes and accessories I wear over and over again so far this season–and some of the beauty and hair products I’m using on repeat.
An Everyday Pair of Denim Shorts
My favorite brand of denim shorts is hands down One Teaspoon. They feel broken in and they never hug these thick thighs! I’m pear-shaped so I typically struggle to find something that fits in the waist, the butt and loose around the thighs. If it fits in the waist, it’s usually too baggy in the butt or somehow digs into my thighs.
Anyways, with this brand, sometimes I just order up a size for a baggier, loose fit. The problem with this brand for me occasionally is that they can be so short, which is why ordering up a size or two works. I ordered up two sizes last summer for a short pair and they fit so nice and are a little longer. This black denim pair appears to be a little longer and I’m loving them.
Statement Earrings
I’m wearing a pair of blush hoops I got from the SHUDIO and I just ordered these larger tortoise hoops last weekend. I like how they’re more of statement piece of jewelry, but not too over the top. They somehow feel natural, earthy and they’re easy to wear with almost anything in my closet.
Easy, Slip on Sandals
These Blowfish sandals have been glued to my feet the last two weeks and I love a simple sandal like this–easy to slip on and off and match with almost anything. And Birkenstocks are essential to my summer wardrobe. When in doubt, I reach for these, but I also want this pair! Espadrilles are also a staple this season, but I like the platform sandal versions like these suede ones by Free People–I don’t have these yet, but I seriously need them in the rusty suede hue.
Dry Shampoo All Summer Long
For the longest time, my hair never had oil issues. My hair is naturally very dry and curly–and when I used to bleach it all, I never once struggled with an oily scalp. Now that I’m 32, don’t bleach my entire head of hair and my hair texture has changed, I find that it’s greasy by day two or three depending on my workouts. I’ve been struggling to find a dry shampoo that I really liked and so far, Living Proof Perfect Hair Day has been working great. It soaks up oil and sweat and has odor neutralizers to give my hair a fresher scent after a workout.
Makeup Essentials
This hot, humid weather makes my makeup melt and my essentials include a CC cream with SPF, bronzer, mascara and lipbalm/lipstick, plus a dewy finish setting spray.
A little over a year ago I started using IT Cosmetics CC cream with SPF 50 and it’s been the best change in my make up routine. Now with one product, I’m evening out my skin tone and protecting my skin against UV rays, hooray! I have the illuminating version too that I like during the summer, I want to sparkle and shine right now.
I’ve also been using the Hourglass bronzer as a bit of contour–very lightly and to just give my skin a little glow. And now that I’m allergic to lash extensions, make to mascara I go and my tried and true product: Diorshow mascara. For lip balm, I love Sugar Lip Treatment in untinted and sugar honey–and I just tried And I’ve never been a fan of a setting spray. Always seemed like a waste, but with the heat, this setting spray by Cover FX helps keep everything in place.
