Brr! The weather is getting colder and colder, but lucky for me, I’ve got heaps of beautiful winter coats bursting out of two closets. I wore this outfit last weekend in Grand Rapids and was actually happy it was cold enough to toss on my favorite vintage fur coat.
The Fall to Winter Transition
It’s time for another seasonal wardrobe change as we head into winter. Between the heavier sweaters, boots, fun textured coats, faux leather leggings and cold weather accessories, I’m itching for my fall/winter wardrobe (and I’m still unpacking my winter wardrobe from the basement.)
Cozy Basics
One of my closet staples this time of the year is a basic black turtleneck tunic that I can toss over jeans or leggings. It’s easy to style it differently with accessories and outerwear from adding in a vest, scarf, leather jacket or a statement faux fur coat. A black v-neck sweater is another classic and Old Navy has major sales on all sweaters.
One of my most loved and worn leggings are the Spanx faux leather moto leggings. They’re incredibly comfortable and flattering. I just found the pebbled leather version online of them and about to order them–super sleek! I also wear these Lysse faux leather leggings on repeat and have them in a couple of colors and textures. And they’re on sale!
Statement Coats
The biggest transition from fall to winter is the outerwear and the winter transition is precisely when I toss on my first fur or faux fur coat of the season. I snagged this leopard print one on consignment three years ago and it’s been a favorite of mine since, but I also love more affordable faux fur options like this Topshop snow leopard jacket, luxe maroon mid-length coat and so many affordable chic coats on sale at Princess Polly. I also love faux fur vests to layer over leather jackets or simple, thin coat like this cream one or black version from Gap (and they’re on sale!)
Sweater from Ivy Castle | jeans by Madewell | Michigan necklace c/o The Great Lake Life (its on sale plus 10% off with code blondebedhead)| bags by Louis Vuitton and Givenchy (spent the day trading back and forth with Brooke!) | boots by Nine West | vintage fur coat from Bella Furs

I totally agree with you on the black turtleneck. Turtlenecks for life! And scarves, obviously! 🙂

I’m usually not the biggest fan of Leopard print but I really really like the shape of your jacket and how cosy it looks! And I’m totally in love with your white sweater!
