With the heat and humidity, and my preference to spend as little time as possible getting ready, I wanted to simplify my beauty regimen while in Mexico. So I’ll share first what I did in advance of my vacation to make my day to day beauty routine more simplified–and then what products I’m loving and using daily!
Pre-Vacation Beauty Prep
A week or so out, I spaced out several appointments to get me vacation-ready. They included:
Waxes! I made sure to get my monthly Brazilian wax just before the trip as well as my brow wax and tint. A fresh brow wax and tint make such a difference in the way I look (and how much time I have to not spend grooming my brows once they’re freshly done!) P.S., Lansing friends, I go to Vada’s Day Spa for Brazilian waxes and Camilla at Laurel Salon for brow transformations.
A fresh lash fill. I think I’ve mentioned on here before that I have NovaLash extensions. They make my daily peasant life easier with almost little to no mascara necessary. This time, I booked a longer session for extra volume and I haven’t worn a mascara at all since my arrival. This makes sweating in the sun not a problem at all. (I see the beautiful Desiree at the Standard Salon for my lashes.)
Gel manicure. I would also say pedicure, but I just ran out of time and I had just gotten a pedicure a couple weeks earlier. I think I may treat myself to a pedicure at the resort because they are looking janky now that I’m spending hours in the pool. Anyways, I got a shellac manicure so that I don’t have to worry about chipping!
Airbrush spray tan. I am super pale and so I booked K&K Airbrush Tanning to make a visit to my house and spray tan me! It’s been years since I’ve had a spray tan. I used to have them airbrushed at a salon, but then that place closed and the machines at other places in town make me look splotchy. But K&K owner Kalyn customizes your color to achieve a natural, glowy tan! Not sponsored at all, I just loved the experience so much! And this helped cut back on my need for any makeup. I wasn’t planning on wearing much at all and I haven’t had to!
Daily Products and Beauty Routine
With my pre-vacation prep, I haven’t needed much to feel great in Mexico! But there have been a handful of products that have been a go-to. They include:
Glossier Generation G lipstick. I bought this around Christmas and hadn’t used it all. I bought this in the color jam, but I’ve been more into neutral tones like MAC’s Velvet Teddy or Charlotte Tillbury’s Pillow Talk lip kit. But I’m glad I had the foresight to toss this into my makeup bag before leaving because since I’m wearing almost no makeup, it’s nice to have a little pop of color and it’s idiot proof to apply. It also wears more like a balm than lipstick, which is great in this weather.
KPS Skincare line. I had a post dedicated to this skincare line a few weeks ago and naturally, I packed the whole line for my trip. KPS really helps with dryness and even my eczema and I’ve had super dry eyelids and specifically, the Renu face cream has been incredibly helpful. So glad I packed it!
Brazilian Bum Bum Cream and Brazilian Crush fragrance. I bought this ass cream last summer to apply to my legs and butt since it seemed to have magical butt-lifting powers. Turns out, the ingredients in the cream include caffeine to help smooth out lumps and bumps and there’s a little shimmer to it, which adds up to some sexy legs and booty! And since I loved the smell of the body lotion so much, I snagged the fragrance mist just before I left and I spritz it on throughout the day. Just smells so light, summery and beachy!
Sugar Sport Treatment Sunscreen. This balm is just one of many sunscreens I packed, but I love this one for my lips and face! It smells just like the other Sugar balms, but with SPF 30.
It Cosmetics CC Cream. Thanks to my friend Emily, I know how amazing this CC cream truly is. Great coverage and best of all, it’s SPF 50. I put a little on my face before the pool and a swipe of the Sugar sunscreen on lips and Glossier–and I’m good to go!
I’ve also been super low key with the hair, per usual. I have been making more of an effort with my hair back home and I packed a straightening iron and my NuME wand, both of which I haven’t even bothered to unpack from the suitcase. One appointment I meant to schedule before the trip was another Brazilian Blowout so that my hair would be frizz free and super calm despite the humidity, but that didn’t happen. But I also don’t hate the bits of curl and fuzz that’s returned, just embracing the all natural look!

Your vacation routine is more high-maintenance than my usual one, haha! Though to be fair, I’m very lazy when it comes to my skin… not a good example! Thank you for the product recommendations, though! 🙂 Some of them sound really good. 😀
