So so many changes this year! I haven’t shared much consistently and even when I do, not everyone is seeing it on social media, so here we go, here’s everything going on right now:
Engagement
Rob proposed early May two days before he graduated from MSU with his doctoral degree. We’re getting married June 17, 2023 on his dad’s property. We got our engagement photos done last month, you can see a few here (will share more!)
Rob’s Job + Move
Rob accepted a job as the associate director of bands and associate director of athletic bands at University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. He’ll be working with the marching band, teaching classes, etc. ย I’ve met his colleagues and they’re all so wonderful. Southern hospitality is a real thing!
He’ll be living here in a cool ass apartment while I’m in the Lansing area. I’m referring to Lansing as my main hub while coming to visit Rob regularly, plus Rob gets a few weeks off around the holidays and summers off and he’ll be in Michigan.
Selling My House
I sold my house rather quickly earlier thing month. I was on the fence with selling, but ultimately decided it was the best thing to do. I’ve lived in this house for only two years but with Rob gone most of the time and with two elderly dogs and work in downtown Lansing, it made the most sense to sell and search for a smaller home closer to Rob’s family, the office and just about every other place I go.
Financially, it was great because I sold my house over asking, and A LOT more than I bought it and I’m getting a move in ready home in East Lansing and I got it 5k under asking, which isn’t huge but I’ll take that as a win. Since I had two living rooms and all kinds of shit at my house, Rob and I could divide up the furniture too and all he had to buy for his new place was a TV because I’m most likely selling mine to the new owners along with most of my belongings LOL. I’ll share updates on the house once I close later in August!
The Dogs
James has always had some health issues like seizures and those have gotten better for him when we switched up his medication a year ago, but now my old lady dogs are experiencing some health ailments in their old age. They’re both 14 and Roxy now has liver issues and is on a couple medications and Ruby has kidney issues and is on a medication and new prescription food that she loves.
Things That Aren’t Changing
I’ll continue to work at Martin Waymire and take on family and portrait photography sessions. I’ve been transparent with all the changes from the beginning with the MW team and I’ll have some flexibility to visit Rob and work remotely. And I’ll be scheduling less photography sessions moving forward so I have time to get away.
