This post is sponsored by Capital City Market
Ever since the Capital City Market opened its doors, I’ve found a new place to grocery shop, grab my iced latte from Ferris, order a hot sandwich from the deli, discover new local or Michigan brands to eat and drink—and bonus, it’s become my favorite place for a quick client meeting in the café space (why not choose a spacious spot for a meeting and conveniently grab some groceries after?)
The Local Favorites Gift Basket Giveaway
I’ve bought locally made goods for parties and events at Capital City Market but hadn’t yet considered grabbing products for a thoughtful gift basket or stocking stuffer, but they have plenty to suit holiday gifting.
I partnered with Capital City Market to put together and give away my ultimate gift basket with a turtle cheesecake by Mr. Leslie’s Cheesecakes (I’ve eaten a couple of these and this is the ultimate refrigerated gift!), Cheese Lady cheese (my favorite cheese, out of Grand Rapids), Ferris Nut Co. holiday box, Park Lake Creamery chocolates (another local fave of mine), a Local Sloth gift card, $25 Capital City Market gift card, Twisted Craft Cocktails and Luxe Artisan Preserves, perfect for your next charcuterie board. Plus, a reusable bag by Public Threads made from former billboards. This can be a gift to yourself if you win (or gift away!)
You can enter the giveaway on my Instagram post here beginning Saturday, Dec. 18! Just be sure to be following me and Capital City Market and leave a comment on the post.
Gifting Themes & Ideas for Last Minute Gift Giving
If you’re stumped for a gift or need to pull together some cool last-minute gifts, here are a few ideas and themes to get you started.
The Holiday Spirit: Grab a liquor set, locally made Twisted Craft Cocktails gift set or Michigan made wine like my go-to Chateau Grand Traverse Dry Riesling. They have a great selection of booze and it’s usually where I stop to grab bottles of wine or hard cider.
Lift Up Local Gift Certificates: Buy local gift certificates in-store from places like Social Sloth, Jalapenos, Sultans, Impression 5 and more. These gift certificates are located near the liquor counter. You can grab a cute card to go with the gift certificate at Capital City Market too. Could even pair it with some flowers from Encore Floral inside the store.
Build the Perfect Charcuterie Board: Shop a great spread of cheeses, meats, preserves and crackers. I like adding nuts (the Ferris nut holiday box would be perfect here too.)
Michigan Made Theme Basket: This can literally be dozens of different products. I personally love the bakery section—a mix of Great Harvest pumpkin bread, vegan treats by Rise, Happy Girl Granola out of Owosso, Ann Arbor-based Frick’n Good Cookies (they’re $12 a box and worth every penny.) You can view a list of local businesses that Capital City Market carries (but this list is much longer if you add in all Michigan based businesses.)
Or you could do a mix of any of these outfits—grab a bottle of a Michigan made wine paired with cheeses and a bouquet of flowers, grab a couple gift cards to go together or grab a mix of Michigan made sauces, seasonings and salsas (I’m doing this for a family member who I shall not name in case they read this!)
