I am by no means a fashion pioneer. I see something someone wore on Pinterest..and I copy that shit. That goes for the double coat styling. I saw it somewhere, thought it looked dope and realized it also functioned particularly well during a Michigan winter. I wore this look yesterday for a conference and as it always goes at these things, I freeze my butt off and needed both layers for most of the day.
Tips to Layer Jackets
The primary factor when pulling off the double layers is selecting the right silhouettes. Layering two tight coats on top of each other seems uncomfortable and odd, but mixing silhouettes that allow for jacket layers seems cool and necessary for brutal winters that some of us face.
My favorite example of double layering is the one I’m wearing today: a tighter fitting leather jacket like this moto version underneath a roomy camel cape coat. I love the peek of the leather jacket on the sleeves and the contrast with black leather and camel wool. A blazer or shorter would work nicely under this shorter cape too. I also love this cape I stumbled upon for $58.
Another favorite combination is a completely billowy look. A cape or roomy faux fur coat paired with an oversized boucle jacket or chunky cardigan looks warm and effortless.
