My obsession with lip balms, glosses and barely there lipsticks is somewhat new. Not sure what’s happened in the last year, but I want to try all of the lip products.
So this month’s beauty edit is focused on the lips and I’m being much more intentional about being aware of AND supporting black owned businesses, so naturally I found new products I just had to have and wanted to share here. Read on!
My Go-To Lip Color + Application
My tried-and-true staple has been Charlotte Tilbury’s matte revolution lipstick in pillow talk or very victoria paired with the pillow talk lip cheat liner. I also bought Charlotte Tilbury’s superstars lipstick in pillow talk which is more sheer and light than the matte revolution version and when I use this, I skip the liner.
To add more dimension and shimmer to this rosy neutral lip color, I top it with the Lip Bar gloss in baddie. This is a gorgeous shimmery peach color that looks beautiful on your lips alone or on top of another lip color. Since I love a more nude color combo, I love it on top of pillow talk or very victoria shades. The beauty brand is owned by Melissa Butler who was frustrated with the beauty industry’s lack of diversity and the amount of chemicals in lipsticks–her line is vegan and cruelty-free and made for all skin tones. Next on my list to order? The gloss in girl boss and dream chaser since I’ve been way more into a shimmery gloss lately than a lipstick.
Hydrating Lip Balms To Try
My lips are perpetually dry thanks to Accutane back in the day. So I love a lip mask like Laniege sleeping mask in vanilla. I apply this before I go to sleep at night to wake up with soft, hydrated lips.
During the day, I’ve just started to use Too Faced Hangover Pillow Balm–like a glossy balm that makes my lips tingle! LOVE this stuff.
I also bought the KNC Beauty Supabalm in mint and just got it in the mail yesterday. I’ve used it twice since ripping open that package from Netaporter, but I can already tell you I love the thick formula, light mint flavor and the tube packaging that makes i easy to swipe a bit on your fingers.
For lip plumping, I use Dior lip maximizer in rosewood or my tried-and-true Too Faced lip injection extreme.
