I’ve been seeing brow laminations done for a year or so now, but when I booked an appointment to get it done, I really had no idea what the process was and what to expect. I just knew my esthetician’s brows are absolute perfection and she laminates her own brows.
Here’s what it is, my experience and why I love it:
What is brow lamination?
It’s basically perming your eyebrow hair straight to provide a more full look. The brows are brushed upwards during the perm so that they will stay put and look full. If you have thick brow hairs like me, you may need to let the brows process longer too!
The process
I get the brow lamination done along with my brow wax and tint. I get my brows waxed and tinted every four weeks and will plan to do the lamination every eight weeks. Here’s what the process includes:
- Your esthetician will apply a cream to your brows that aims to lift up your brow hairs.
- Your brow hairs are then brushed upward to help pull them in a vertical direction.
- Your esthetician will apply a neutralizer to help seal your brows into place.
- And lastly, an oil is applied to help prevent skin irritation and hair dryness that may be caused by the chemicals used during the perm.
This takes around an hour or so. If you have thick brow hairs like me, you may need to let the brows process longer too!
At home, you’ll want to continue to apply oil to the brow hairs to keep them moisturized and not get them wet or even steam near them for 24 hours. I use this hair oil on the brows and try to avoid getting them wet for 48 hours.
My results
My brows look naturally fuller and gives the illusion of a little eye lift too. So flattering. I do need to brush them up daily or more. Like if I change my shirt midday, it will mess up my brows and I need a spoolie to quickly brush back into place!
I re-tint my own brows at home (using this) after two weeks and use the Glossier boy brow to tint and brush up every morning. The photo above is right after getting them done and below is about a month after the brow lamination. Still looks good!
I see Riley Vanness in Lansing if you’re looking for someone AMAZING. I’ve been going to her for a year now and she truly has transformed my brows.
