ย I’ve been anti dressy/preppy clothing since my early intern days when I felt that kind of dress is all I could wear and I didn’t feel like myself in a pair of dress pants or a blazer or a trench, but that’s all changed recently for me. I can mix these key classics into my wardrobe by styling casual–with a hoodie or sneakers, still two key pieces of pandemic style that I refuse to let go of.
My Classic Trench Coat
This coat was gifted by Everlane, but I did pick it out for myself. It’s the perfect color and fits me perfectly (in my normal medium size.) I’ve been styling with sweatshirts and hoodies–styled two ways in this post.
I almost wore it to a dressier event with a dressier outfit underneath but that felt too stiff for me. Something in my outfit has to feel more casual for me to like it so this will not be in the mix when I have to dress up for work, but it will be go-to on casual weekends.
How I Style It
I styled above with loose fitting, high waist jeans, white sneakers, my favorite Anine Bing hoodie and structured bag.
Below, I styled it with these black leggings, oversized black hoodie, my go-to Amazon baseball cap and comfy weird looking Balenciaga sneakers.
I’d also wear this with jeans and a tee when it warms up a little more this spring. I could even see myself adding a heel like this or this.
