How to Style Overalls this Spring + Where to Shop Them

It wasn’t until last spring when I spotted Cynthia Ashby linen overalls and reconciled my love for the versatile, functional, but cool trend that I loved as a child. And this year’s version makes my heart skip a beat just like they did a year ago.

How To Wear Overalls

Spring is always a tough time for styling outfits in Michigan. One day you’re forced to drag out your puffer jacket and deal with the snow and cold and the next, you’re wearing cropped linen pants and anything breathable to keep you from sweating. And overalls can work for those weather extremes!

My go-to overall styling is a cropped tee and sneakers. Equally casual and comfortable as the overalls, but I wanted to dress them up a bit, so I added a striped ruffle top and my favorite funky purple shoes by Trippen. They add a subtle pop of color.

Since most of my overalls are usually oversized or loose, I like to wear a fitted or cropped top underneath. And then I can layer over an oversized cardigan or coat on top for a super slouchy look.

I also love these Z Supply sweatshirt-material overalls (I own them in black and olive) and they’re available in camo print in two colors. These belted overalls from Target are budget-friendly and come in olive or grey.

If you’re looking for a cozy pair of denim overalls, these Wrangler overalls are amazing. I NEED them. And if you live in a warmer climate than Michigan, you may be ready to debut the short versions like these cute black Madewell overall shorts or these light wash shorts from Urban Outfitters (bought these last summer!)
