My style has evolved in the last 13+ years since starting this blog. I’ve shifted away from an edgier look that I think defined me for so long but thanks to aging and a global pandemic. And I stumbled for a few years trying to figure out who I was at this time and what I felt comfortable in, and like myself, style wise.
I’m 37 now and I absolutely appreciate the quiet luxury aesthetic, combining my love for minimalism with a bit of polish I was never interested in before. This outfit represents a lot of the style shifting and finding my new comfort zone where things feel effortless and not fussy, but a little more mature and polished. What hasn’t changed is my love for a monochromatic look, just a little more elevated now.
A Cream Monochromatic Look
With age comes the return of trends you’ve already experienced and worn, and trying to navigate how that fits your personality, age and lifestyle now.
One of these trends is the return of the tube top. I sported these throughout my teen years paired with a mini Hollister skirt and a leathery tan look from the tanning bed. This beige tube top seemed fitting for me and I wasn’t quite sure I was going to style it until I thought about maxi skirts and how those proportions would be a bit more elevated, and not too young on me! So I styled this tube top with a cream pleated maxi skirt (similar), white slingbacks (similar) and a cropped white bomber jacket. This was a perfect work outfit and I plan to rewear this exact look at a client conference next month. I kept jewelry minimal because that’s just my preference and added a cream Balenciaga bag and Target brown cat eye sunglasses to complete the look.
I love these nude slingbacks as another chic shoe option!
For more affordable chic bag options, love this $98 cream pleated bag, this $30 structured white bag and this woven clutch.
I also like the idea of trading out the jacket for a soft blue cropped cardigan or even this cute cream Free People sweater and drape over your shoulders a on breezy summer day.
