I’m fully welcoming the longer, fuller short style from long denim cut offs to Bermuda shorts this summer. This is modest style I can get behind since hitting my mid-thirties to late thirties, I’m just into longer, looser everything in my wardrobe. Here are some of the styles I’m loving and how I’m styling them this summer:
How I’m Styling Longer Shorts
I think with this style of shorts, the world is your oyster when it comes to styling choices. Here, I took the opportunity to balance out the loose cream shorts with a fitted tank and dressed them up a bit with Gucci slingbacks. But I also think they would look great with tee, oversized sweatshirt with leather thong sandals or sneakers. These just feel fresh to me and I haven’t had to pick a wedgie a single time wearing these yet.
Long Shorts on My Radar
As an elder millennial in a leadership position, I declare shorts appropriate as work attire–in the right silhouette and fabric. Take these COS ribbed knit Bermuda shorts. Add a heel and a black blazer, so chic. Another black pair that have belt loops. Love adding a belt to shorts for an elevated look.
On major sale and possibly the chicest shorts ever? These Everlane shorts are in my cart.
For a more effortless, casual style, these Free People shorts are perfect, plus they come in several colors.
I’ve been eyeing these Gap denim shorts particularly and waiting for them to go back on sale. I paused too long to purchase last month and then the sale disappeared on me.
Loft has a version on major, major sale right now and available in a handful of colors.
Here’s the pair I’m wearing, an affordable option from H&M. I went up a size for extra baggy but probably not necessary. I would order your true size.
