My wardrobe is in a decent place, but here are a few ways I’m refreshing my wardrobe for 2024.
Purge
Since I’ve been operating on an informal capsule wardrobe, I’ve been staying on top of pieces in my closet that I just don’t wear or want, but the start of the new year is a great time to purge again. I’m combing my closet for items that I’m not wearing along with my dressers.
I give my family members some of my clothes and I also sell on Poshmark. There’s a local consignment shop I recently brought a couple tubs of winter clothes and shoes to sell and made $270!
Reassess & Replace
Overall, I’m set on jeans, pants and skirts along with basic tees and tanks and blazers. Mostly, I’m completely set but I would like to incorporate a new cardigan like this Sezane cardigan in a rich color outside of tan, black or grey.
I’d also like to find another pair of quality ankle boots, preferably in chocolate brown. I would love to rebuy the J Crew boots I bought in black but also waiting for them to be on sale to snag at the same price I got them in black.
I recently purged most of my scarves as they’re a necessity here in Michigan and found an affordable grey oversized scarf from Zara that I know I’ll wear for years to come.
To spice up my wardrobe, I’m also planning to buy some colorful socks and ruffle socks plus these $5 red socks to incorporate a little color and playfulness in an otherwise minimal, neutral wardrobe.
Don’t Buy it All
My problem used to be just wanting something with one reason in mind like an event coming up or I just want to try a trend. Now, I consider if I will wear it more than once and how I might wear it and if I can’t think of other ways or reasons to wear it, I can’t justify the purchase. My wardrobe is super basic but it’s what I wear and remix so it makes the most sense to stick to the basics!
Reorganizing My Closet
I haven’t done this yet as you can tell in the photo, but I plan to re-organize so it’s easier for me to find what I’m looking for. I wrote a post on closet organization last year and all the Amazon items I bought are still incredibly helpful today to stay organized!
