I lose all kinds of momentum and energy in the middle of winter in Michigan. It’s perpetually cloudy, dark and gloomy. And incredibly cold and snowy.
So when I’m normally more active, taking James on long walks, walking to my workouts and getting a little vitamin D, this time of the year turns me into a sleepy sloth with zero energy who hardly moves.
I’ve decided this year I’d take more control of my lack of energy through eating better, drinking more water and maintaining my workouts (all of which I’m struggling with still.) But some other ideas have given me that boost of energy to get me more motivated:
Vitamin B12 Shot
I got my first B12 shot a couple weeks ago and boy has it made a difference. It instantly gave me more energy and I could feel the difference during my workout and how well I’ve been sleeping lately. If you’re in Lansing, you can get a B12 shot from Dr. McSwain at Michigan Center for Functional Medicine. She also has other vitamin shots too!
Trace Mineral Essentials
Dr. McSwain gave me PDCM 72ย Undiluted Pure Natural Trace Mineral Dietary Supplement to start taking to help with energy levels. It tastes like I’m drinking a penny, but the tiniest bit chased with a bit of juice (or sometimes I just mix the two together and sort of take it like a shot, even though I was never good at drinking shots.) I take this every other day in the morning.
Daily Vitamin (a gummy one that tastes good!)
I understand that a gummy vitamin may not be the best or most efficient type of vitamin, but it’s one I remember to take every day because I look forward to eating them. It’s this or I never take a daily multivitamin, so do what works best for you! I also take a probiotic pill and eat fiber gummies daily. I usually get the Nature Made gummies and fiber gummies!
