My basic winter layers aren’t all that inspiring. Leggings and a hoodie or sweatshirt most of the time, but the key pieces I add in layering help elevate the look–and make it look more luxe.
Add in Leather
I love a leather (of faux leather) layer. I’m wearing Spanx faux leather Moto leggings here instead of my typical Lululemon leggings to add more edge, but I also added an oversized leather vest. A leather jacket works too.
Make it Monochrome
Whenever I’m in a pinch and want to look pulled together, I go for all black or all white/cream. I’m wearing mostly all black (but added a grey tailored coat for warmth.)
Tailored Coat Layering
My more tailored coat buys this winter have been worn on repeat because they just make everything look more luxe (even when they’re Target and H&M coat finds!) This is my all time favorite coat find and it’s half off at Mango (comes in black or camel.) This and this are also fab. A great Target coat!
Shoes & Bags
Shoes and bags possess a lot of power in my wardrobe and can completely change the look. I grabbed lace up boots and a LV backpack for this outfit last weekend, but I’m loving the big bag trends like this Staud bag and this Madewell bag.
For boots, this black boot is classic, but cool and I highly recommend this style that goes well with sweatpants to leggings. This is another classic pair of Chelsea boots, just $30 from Target. These would look great with straight leg jeans.
