As an introvert, working remotely has come quite naturally to me, but I’ve missed my colleagues, spontaneity in the day and social lunches. With the new normal, here’s what I do to keep motivated throughout each week day I work:
Change up My Workspace + Identify Work Zones and Non-Work Zones
The same surroundings bore me after a while. It’s why I like to sit in the community space at the PR firm I work at rather than my own private office. I like the change in scenery and seeing people come and go, and talking to colleagues. So at home, I need the same thing. I have a couple designated work places including my dining nook table, accent chair in living room and my vanity turned desk in my closet room.
I won’t work from the couch or my bed as those are designated chill zones!
Meal Plan
Since it’s not as easy to cruise out and grab food, I’ve been doing a lot more meal planning and prepping at home. We have a dry erase weekly calendar that’s now used for meal planning and it’s so helpful. I try to figure out the week’s meals on Sundays and base it off what we already have at home. I’m also buying a lot more grab and go items like string cheese, Perfect bars, etc.
Take a Lunch & Breaks
I struggle taking an actual lunch because I fart around throughout the day taking pics and filming stories for my Instagram, but I still try to take breaks from that as well and take James on at least a couple walks during the day. I’m trying to work out for 30 minutes at lunch, which to be honest, has been quite the struggle to accomplish and happens maybe twice a week right now.
Get Dressed
I start each day getting dressed and ready for my day, which is a small thing I can control and helps me feel ready to get shit done (and not look like a troll for my million Zoom calls.) I’m not getting dressed up, but I’m putting on cute joggers or leggings with a top and jewelry. And doing my make up.
What keeps you motivated and on track if you work from home?
