I’m a planner so naturally planning out blog content is something I love to do and realize is something I should share here. Read on for how I approach my blog content strategy and planning:
My Blog
I typically post three days a week on the blog, usually Monday, Wednesday and Friday. In the beginning of my blogging days I would loosely plan these out as two outfit posts and one random post a week and now I’m much more structured.
My goal now is to share a post on blogging or career tips once a week and one to two fashion posts, but I also have monthly themes like Target finds, Amazon finds and a beauty edit. The monthly series helps me plan out content monthly without stress! And I get to write and share about topics that excite me.
For an editorial calendar, I use an Excel sheet template and I visually prefer a monthly layout that I plug in topics and ideas at the start of each month and make adjustments if needed as I go.
For photography, I usually schedule professional photos once a week for the following week on the blog, usually on Saturday and Sunday and edit on the weekends. With quarantine, I now do this maybe once a month and rely on my phone on self timer and my tripod so I can snap some quick at home or even outside on my own. I’ve really scaled back on my photo needs and it’s actually so freeing and less stressful!
I also want to note the blog is the only place where I truly plan out content. This drives the posts on my social media channels and I try to share more of what feels fun to me each day on social media.
I post on my Instagram feed up to three times a week and plan it out using the app PLANN. I’ve really scaled back here because it’s personally given me a lot of anxiety so I find that if I just scale back a bit, it’s less pressure and then I spend more time on Instagram stories sharing everyday life, shopping picks and links to recent blog posts. I work with a freelancer to design my blog post Instagram story designs each week and I try to share these at least once a week.
I usually share at least 10 stories a day whether it’s a video of the dogs, links to blog posts, my beauty routine in photos or video or my daily outfit!
I share on IGTV not often, but I try to have it coordinate with a blog post. For example, last month I shared my top Target finds in a blog post with photos. And I shared a camping post last week and been meaning to publish a video tour on IGTV where I share I have a full blog post with links and more details.
I share my blog posts on Facebook each day they’re published and share again usually a couple days later. I also mix in at least one to two items on sale or a great price that I love or just a random photo of everyday life like a selfie with James. I like to share links to my daily looks here too if I have time.
I spend time on Pinterest usually once to twice a week. I have a calendar reminder set up weekly to spend at least an hour scheduling content on Pinterest. I’m working on learning Tailwind to help with scheduling, which I’m totally behind on. Following me yet on Pinterest?
Like To Know It
This is an app I’ve been spending more time on in the last six months or so. This is a shopping app where I share outfits, home decor and more and link to it all to make it easy to shop. I usually then re-share on Instagram stories. You can follow me here.
Newsletter
I’m not doing much here right now beyond my weekly newsletters that share my weekly blog posts. This is automated so I don’t have to do a thing to have this sent out each week! I worked with my web designer to do this and makes it a lot easier than manually setting up this week (which was hard to keep up with.)

Thank you for sharing this! I had read some advice to post on Instagram every single day and I was feeling so overwhelmed and anxious about that. I love reading that you’ve cut back and that it’s okay to do so! Great post, thank you for sharing this!
