Visiting Franklin
A visit to Franklin, TN has been on my bucket list and my mom was adamant that we make time for the trip this year and I’m so glad we visited.
Trip Advisor listed Franklin as a top city to visit this year and I can see why now. It’s one of the most charming downtowns I’ve ever toured. It’s like a small, quintessential quaint town on steroids. The town is full of historical sites, shops, restaurants and that indescribable small town feel that makes me feel at home and welcomed. With it just 30 minutes from Nashville, it’s a quick drive that’s worth the journey.
Eating in Franklin
The first place we visited was Triple Crown Bakery. It has the most charming facade and inside it’s even more adorable. The bakery is packed with plenty of baked goods and vintage horse show ribbons and plates adorning the walls. And everyone working there was beautiful. I just wanted to hang out in there all day at one of the two tables it had inside. Instead, I snapped a million photos on my phone and left with a unicorn cookie, muffin and vanilla cupcake with sprinkles before wandering into Handy’s Hardware next door.
Puckett’s is a cozy restaurant to enjoy a BBQ lunch! Another quintessential eatery to be sure to visit when in town! They also have a Frothy Monkey coffeehouse here–I haven’t visited this location, but love the breakfast and coffee at the 12 South location in Nashville.
Shopping in Franklin
In most towns, I notice they might have a couple adorable and affordable boutiques and this place has at least a dozen. And for some reason, I wasn’t expecting any real shopping, but I was wrong. I left Franklin with plenty of shopping bags!
If you just wander the downtown, you’ll find them all, but I’ll highlight a few of my favorites which include Bink’s Outfitters (snagged some Northface and Patagonia on clearance!), Habit Boutique (large women’s clothing and great price range on clothes!), White’s Mercantile and Heylee B–I loved every single thing at the store including women’s clothing and accessories.
Touring Franklin
My mom and I did a driving tour of the downtown and surrounding area. There are a handful of historic sites including churches and homes and we loved reading the history.
We also stopped by Carter House for civil war history along with tack shops where I snagged a big ol’ bucket of molasses sweets for my girl Mocha. All in all, there’s plenty of do and eat here and I can’t wait to return next year.
