There are so many thing I love about this outfit that I hurried and styled before departing to Owosso for a crochet workshop. The mix of utilitarian pieces with luxury like the denim with this vintage fur coat is the balance I’m always seeking with my style. Which brings me to the topic of this post of finding things to do during such a cold winter season. I don’t ski, snowboard–or participate in much outdoorsy activities this time of the year, but doesn’t mean there aren’t fun ideas to make the most of the season. Read on for a few ideas:
Learn Something New
From a new workout class to conference to afternoon workshop, there are so many ways to learn something or try something new. I’ve been wanting to learn how to knit or crochet so I finally registered for a crochet workshop at Aviator Jayne that I attended last week. It got me out of the house, trying something new and meeting new people! I hope to try some new workout classes yet this winter and try to do more crocheting or knitting.
A Winter Getaway
Winter isn’t typically the best time to travel from one cold region to another, but I love visiting northern Michigan this time of year. Next month I’ll head up for a mini trip with Matt at Traverse City Modern Lodge airbnb in Traverse City and hopefully check out a few wineries and enjoy the views and quiet this time of year.
Book Club
There are online book clubs or local book clubs to join–and it’s a great way to disconnect from tech and the internet, find new and interesting books to read and connect with new people. It’s a way to get out of the house if you join a local book club and socialize–or if you participate online like I do, it’s a good way to get introduced to new books and find folks online to discuss it with rather than mindlessly scrolling through Facebook.
Spa Day
When I’m cold and bored at home, nothing sounds as refreshing and comforting than a massage or facial. I usually don’t schedule these in the summer since there’s so much more going on, but in the winter when I have more down time, I like to schedule a facial (usually at Douglas J Institute for a good deal!)
I also typically address more skin concerns this time of year when my skin won’t see the sun! I do chemical peels, microneedling and I plan on getting my brows microbladed soon, all of which is easier to get done in the winter when your skin isn’t exposed to the sun (and in Michigan, there’s NO sun this time of the year and I don’t spend too much time outside.)

A winter getaway is definitely on my list! I can’t stand the cold weather (even though it doesn’t really get cold here in Hong Kong, haha). Somewhere tropical like Thailand would be nice! 😀
