So far, I am absolutely in love with this city. I’m probably still in the honeymoon stage, but I’ve already had my fair share of near death driving experiences, creepy dudes hollering at me and have been paying ridiculous taxes on everything. It hasn’t been a difficult transition considering all my good friends live here. I’ve been exploring new neighborhoods, restaurants and bars everyday. If any readers have suggestions on good places, please let me know! Or if anyone wants to meet up, I’d love to make new friends!
The first day of my new job with Kie & Kate started yesterday. The owner, Kati, started the company designing children’s clothing and now sells women’s clothing and accessories. I already adore her and her family and I just can’t contain my excitement for everything I get to do working for her! I’ll be focused primarily on web site and marketing, but I get to assist on so many other fun projects in the works. We spent most of yesterday buying clothing and jewelry for the fall at Stylemax at Merchandise Mart in downtown Chicago. Kati put me to “work” picking out clothing and jewelry I think would sell well. I basically spent my first work day shopping. This tradeshow was huge! I’ve never gone to these before, but there was so much going on and I think I could spend days skimming through clothing and just soaking it all in. I ended my day grabbing dinner with my friends at my roommate’s delicious restaurant, Big Stuff. All in all, it was a perfect day.

I'm so glad you're adjusting so well to your new city! This outfit is gorgeous. I love the vest with the shirt-dress. Your job sounds amazing. I'll try to think if I can remember any great restaurants that I'd been too.
You should try Cafe Ba Ba Reeba in Lincoln Park. Green Zebra is also a great option…it's quite, quite expensive, but if you feel like treating yourself, you won't be disappointed! And by the way, cute outfit!
Sounds like you are right where you are suppose to be right now! Your "job" sounds amazing; shopping all day…that's gotta be rough girl.
Your hair is freaking WILD! I LOVE IT!!! Is it natural or do you do something to get it to look like that? I hear the volume!!!
really love ur outfits . not everyone can wear it like you .
love
Chicago is the greatest, i agree! You have to go to Chicago Diner on Halsted, its a funky little hole in the wall vegan restaurant thats delicious! Enjoy the city!
totally perfect outfit! I like ur hair <3
xx
That sounds like an amazing job! Your outfit is great, I love the faux fur vest! 🙂
Glad you like Chicago so far! Yes, the taxes are crazy…
Can I ask what neighborhood you moved to? I'm not a creepy stalked, but have myself been looking at moving to the city (I'm in the 'burbs) and am curious about which neighborhoods to look at 🙂
And I love how you mixed the army green dress with that amazing faux fur vest. And, as always, I love your hair!
Welcome to Chicago! Don't you just love it here?! Rockin' outfit for a first day on the job in the city. 😉
There are so many good places to eat around the city, I think it just depends where you are. I could recommend a place, but it could be 2 hours from where you live. Thats the greatness of Chicago, its huge and full of hidden gems!
I think you should do a meet up. Maybe meet up at the Chicago theater or Watertower Mall. Shopping, talking and eating, the best things in life! 🙂

Definitely hit up Big Star in Wicker Park. The best tacos and beer selection.
if i could shop for work, i'd faint.
i'd be that excited.
Dirty Hair Halo
What an exciting opportunity! I can't wait to hear more about your new job. Loving your faux fur vest!

Love this outfit! great for transitional weather! I agree with KY, your hair is awesome! Great post!
Congrats on your big move! Sounds like your job is off to a fab start, too 🙂
My hubs and I were in Chicago for 3 years before moving back to the South. One of my favorite memories from our time spent was Sunday brunch. It's so big there! Orange, Stanley's, Uncommon Ground, Schuba's Harmony Grill, Southport Grocery – those are all some good ones to start with. Enjoy!
xo
For weekend brunch: M. Henry is a must! Also, Uncommon Ground is one of my favorite places.
Glad you're loving Chicago!
You look amazing as usual! XOXO, http://www.NatalyasCloset.com
i love Chicago! during the summer i try to go often since i'm not that far away (milwaukee)… i never get tired of it
i'm not actually a fan of fur, or even faux fur for that matter but this looks really nice. love the styling!
I love the vest…wish they were still being sold! Glad to hear your new job is off to a good start.
Oh man, I want your job! So cool and it's good to hear you are loving Chi-town. Sweeeet vest lady!
Sounds like an amazing first day of a very cool job. Loving the outfit, that vest is pretty spectacular 🙂
Recommendations: Boiler Room off California Blue Line Stop PB&J for I think $7.50: piece of pizza, tall boy PBR and a shot of Jameson, Opart Thai off the Western Brown line stop, Big Star off Damen Blue Line.
I'll just leave you with three random ones. Welcome to Chicago!

What a great job!!
Glad you are enjoying Chicago so far, your post is making me miss it more than ever! There are so many great places…for shopping there's filene's basement (in the loop and the magnificent mile), crossroads, buffalo exchange, nordstrom's rack, clothing optional, ragstock, hollywood mirror…for food there's pick me up cafe, earwax cafe, lulu cafe, chicago diner, clark's, pizza metro, tecalitlan…if you're a clubber there's le passage…if you're a dive bar person there's old town ale house, parrots…for record shopping I'd recommend dave's or reckless…oh geez look at this terrible fit of nostalgia I've been thrown into. 🙂
If I were in Chicago I'd check out this place http://www.davidlebovitz.com/2011/03/floriole-bakery-cafe-chicago/
David's been to more places there I'd like to go to, his food blog has more tips.
Good to hear you're doing great in Chicago, I've heard many good things about the place from my friends.
That dress is amazing!
You look gorgeous, perfect outfit for work.
xx
Andrea – Congrats on the new job and the move to Chicago. You will love the city. I mean, I'm biased having grown up there, but there is so much to do and see. And the summers there are spectacular! Enjoy the transition. – Katy
check out L2O (on lakeshore drive) for ridiculously expensive and amazing seafood and THE best bite-size rosemary croissants ever, kitsch'n in roscoe village for amazing homestyle cooking (or to orange next door for frushi), julius meinl in wrigleyville for breakfast european-style, pick-me-up cafe on clark for the vegan rice krispie squares at 3am (keep an eye out for the guy on the bike that does 360-degree wheelies), skylark for tater tots, fox+obel (downtown/navy pier) for awesome sunday morning gourmet food shopping/breakfast. kuma's corner for burgers on the sickest pretzel buns and good beer.
for drinks/music/tattooed/pierced mayhem my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE is delilahs at lincoln+diversey. also, neo and exit are great for some hardcore atmosphere juxtaposed with the nicest people ever. go to kingston mines for great blues, jazz and fried catfish.
armitage st has great boutique shopping, wicker park is the best vintage/thrifting crawl, and you have to check out ikram because it carries the most obscure and current runway looks.
the architecture cruise out of navy pier is a must, there's a cute farmer's market in front of the mca on tuesdays, and for something that's not lollapalooza, pilsen has some crazy music festivals in the street during the summer.
sorry i bombarded your comments list! i love chicago.

xo now following!
So…let's talk about how you're hot. Because, really, you're about to burn my eyes in these photos. The combo of the black, the studs, the zippers, the fur, the heels, the short skirt…I'm about to propose. 🙂
SO GLAD you're loving Chicago!!! We needed you here just to dress things up a bit. Can't wait to see you tomorrow night!
okay i adore this outfit. probably one of my most favs!!!
With 44 comments you probably got plenty of recommendations on places to check out, but I LOVE Smoke Daddy (www.thesmokedaddy.com). Good prices on great smoked bbq food, as well as blues & jazz music every night (I think it's every night, definitely on the weekends). Anyway, that's my joint anytime I'm in town. 🙂 Not sure if it's because the food is awesome, or I'm nostalgic though. 😉
Wicked fur vest! Superb blog also!
