I’ve gotten into a nice routine to keep my face (and hair) as fresh, youthful and polished as I can–without having to do much day to day. Read on for my go-to services every month and quarter:
My Monthly/BiMonthly Services and Treatments
Each month, I get my brows waxed and tinted and this service has transformed my brows from sad little fuzzy blonde things to distinct and full brows that complement my face. If I feel like my brows faded extra quick between services, I do dye them myself with Bae Brow which makes it an idiot proof process. I’m also going to start laminating my brows. This is the process where the brows are essentially permed to give you a fuller brow look.
Every other month, I have my lashes tinted and curled! This makes my morning routines even more simplified, skipping the brow pencil, lash curler and mascara. For these services, I see Riley Vanness in Lansing!
I love a facial, hydrafacial, light chemical peel and micro needling, spacing these out throughout the year as well so I’m probably scheduling some sort of face treatment every other month on average. I’ll probably get a super relaxing facial a couple times a year along with a hydrafacial a couple times a year which really helps to exfoliate my skin and vacuum out my pores!
And chemical peels are usually a 1-2 times a year service for me. Back when I suffered from acne, I scheduled many more chemical peels which helped kill the bacteria and I still love these for exfoliating my skin, I just hate this service the most in terms of pain/annoyance. My skin burns and itches and so sensitive to it while its on (even though I have completely normal results, I’m just dramatic when its applied to my skin.)
I also love getting micro needling around once a year which helps with any scarring, discoloration and texture. Back when I first solved my acne issues, I had some scarring and discoloration and micro needling eliminated that for me.
In Lansing, I love Aurora Medi Spa and I also visit Urban You in Northville and Grand Rapids.
Quarterly/Annual Services
I get a haircut every three months like clockwork now. I love a fresh cut and how healthy my ends looks so I keep up with haircuts more than ever instead of a once a year thing. With color, I usually go for a natural looking balayage so I only have to go in for color a couple times a year. And I love how low maintenance and healthier it is for my hair. I see Jason Nash for my cuts and Beth Nash for my hair color at Douglas J Salon.
In the past, I’d get botox a couple times a year, but I’m thinking I’m going to keep to a more consistent schedule since the wrinkles and lines around my eyes have intensified in the last year. I go to mostly Urban You for injectables, but also recommend Aurora and Skin Boss in Lansing.
I also get lip filler once a year. My body has metabolized Juvederm more slowly the last couple years and only need to touch my lips up once a year right now. I’ve also tried cheek filler!
I also used to get laser hair removal for my armpits which I miss! If I could keep up with this more on an annual schedule, I’d have to shave a lot less!
