I’ve never made a new year resolution. I’ve always thought if you wanted a change, you do it as soon as you want to make it, but unfortunately, I’ve been in this autopilot rut. I’ve taken no action to make those changes. The start of the new year seems like a clean slate or a new chapter to light a fire under my ass to do the things I’m afraid to do or have been too lazy to do. And I always think back to the last time I felt this rut and moved to Chicago to follow a “dream” of living in a big city and working more closely to fashion. Fuck. That. I ended up hating that job I took and racked up debt that took me two years to clean up.
I suppose now I’m a little older and maybe a little wiser and I don’t need to move to Chicago to figure out what I need to feel more fulfilled and challenged. For me, it’s making small changes to take me out of autopilot mode like taking the time to brainstorm ideas to improve internal communications at my job or creating more meaningful blog posts. I’d really like to travel more this year to visit my friends and make more of an effort to maintain my friendships, whether they live in West Virginia or a mile away. Did you make any resolutions this year?

I love this post! I think doing small things to get out of ruts is one of the best things you can do 🙂 Thank you for always being a sounding board when I'm in my own rut!
West Virginia welcomes you as soon as it warms up! Come for a visit and we can sit by the pool 😉

No I did not. I'm much like yourself, I don't make resolutions. What's the point? I have yet to find out. As far as I can tell, most of the people that make them, NEVER KEEP THEM! (sorry to yell). It's so silly. Throughout the year I'm trying to do better across the board. I don't need a new calendar to make me feel inclined to do so. Though I will take advantage of all the new years sales.
