I styled this for a night out in Grand Rapids last weekend, but damn did it get hot again. I had to shed the green jacket layer, which I forced myself to wear the next morning with a tee and leggings since I’ve been itching to wear it.
Getting Out and About
I don’t usually make time for a random night in Grand Rapids or any fun city for that matter–I get annoyed with waiting for a table at restaurants, overpaying for cocktails and experiencing general transportation frustrations. I hate taking cabs and I’d prefer to walk or drive my own ass everywhere. I’m your classic good time curmudgeon, but I made an attempt for fun last weekend, and succeeded!
We bar hopped until midnight (and found a hot dog cart before turning in) and the next day, we sipped coffee outside at Madcap Coffee and then headed to New Hotel Mertens for brunch with the tiniest of hangovers. Can’t wait to get back and spend more time exploring GR nightlife.
What I’m Shopping for Fall
Maxi dresses all autumn long: Heavier cotton dresses have their place in my closet when the temperatures drop. This maxi dress is 40% off and comes in a ton of colors, easy to layer for fall. I also love this faux wrapped maxi dress with long sleeves!
Leather details: From my rugs to handbags, anyone knows my love for cowhide. It’s a great statement piece as a tote or clutch and this one is by local designer Leah and Luella! Suede and leather jackets are a must-have every fall too. I have this jacket in two colors (including the coffee bean one pictured), but not this deep grey yet and I’m so close to ordering. I usually go up a size in these to make it a little roomier.
Deep mauve lipsticks: I’ve been on a nude lip kick for the better part of a year, it’s just so easy and applying darker colors like this take work. And after I applied it, I realized again that it’s worth it. I’m wearing Nars Powermatteย Lip Pigment in London Calling. I’m not too precise with itsย application so I just blot around the edges of my lips to blend it, let it dry and add just a bit of lip balm on top. I also love the BareMinerals GEN NUDE liquid lipstick–I have it in nude colors, but curious to try it in Bo$$.
