ย The last time I was in Nashville during winter was back in 2011/2012 when I visited for the first time during New Year’s and no matter the time of the year, I love this town.
I’ve been itching for a quick getaway/road trip and ย I’m lucky Matt likes to do this stuff with me. We didn’t have much planned (besides my typed up loose itinerary of where I wanted to eat) and we spent the long weekend eating good food and exploring.
Day One in Nashville
Matt and I arrived to Nashville around 11 a.m. I had gotten new recommendations from my friend Laura plus did some research on Instagram on new spots and we settled on a quick bite and coffee first at Stay Golden. Matt ordered a savory brioche along with a coffee soda drink and I got my typical glazed donut and iced latte. I can never finish a full beverage, but Matt was shocked when I sipped down every last drop of my coffee–that’s how good it was!
Next, I took him on a rainy driving tour through downtown to see Broadway Street, the Gulch, 12 South and part of Midtown before heading to Germantown. I love the shop Alexis and Bolt, and the fact that Germantown is one of the few areas I can find parking easily, so we shopped around and ended up at one of my favorite spots, Butchertown Hall, for a drink and tacos.
After the late brunch, we made it back to East Nashville to do some shopping at Lemon Laine and grab ice cream at Jeni’s Ice Cream. And then we checked into our airbnb called Boscobel Bungalow in the Lockeland Springs area of East Nashville.
Since everything in Nashville, and really any sizable city, is busy for dinner, we figured it would be best to settle on an early bird dinner to beat the rush. I originally wanted to head to the 12 South neighborhood for dinner, but with the rain and our exhaustion, we drove a mile down the street back to the same shopping area as Lemon Laine and ate ramen at Two Ten Jack. I ordered garlic noodles with crab butter and pepper along with bacon wrapped asparagus skewers and Matt ordered the pork ramen. And then I got ready for bed around 7 p.m. like the old lady I am.

Nashville Style
We drove from Indy to Nashville Saturday morning and I threw on sweatshirt overalls (basically my travel overalls) with a camo tee and once the rain cleared up in Nashville, I changed into this look, which came together thanks to Sparrow Boutique.
I visited Sparrow Boutique in my hometown before the trip and of course, the owner Kristi and her team picked out looks that I may not have reached for myself, but once I tried on, I absolutely loved. Draped cardigans aren’t something I typically style, but this rich color and texture made it more my style, especially after I asked to try on the size large instead of small. The larger size gave it a more slouchy look and I layered it over a graphic tee, black jeans and these new mules from Sparrow.
