I wore this last weekend in Pittsburgh visiting my friends Courtney and Ben. I was in such a rush to pack before we left that I didn’t have time to type out my packing lists as usual and I forgot a BRA. So after taking Courtney, Ben and Matt on a journey through an outlet mall, I found a nude bra to wear with this dress instead of the black sports bra I came into town wearing. Phew.
Court and Ben live just outside of town and so we Matt and I spent the first night catching up and hanging out in Canonsburg before heading into the city on Saturday for a quick overnight trip.
Great Stops in Pittsburgh
I’ve been to Pittsburgh a handful of times, and each time, I explore new neighborhoods and find new favorite places, but I almost always visit the Strip District. We headed there first to wander the streets, shop and eat. We checked out De Fer Coffee (they also serve breakfast, snacks and cocktails!) and then wandered into shops like Mon Amiee Chocolat (grabbed smooth and melty mints and a chocolate bar that I already gobbled up on the drive home), Roxanne’s Dried Flowers (filled with floral arrangements, foliage and fragrances and more) and Pennsylvania Libations.
We stayed at boutique hotel The Oaklander in the Oakland neighborhood. We grabbed a drink, rather Matt grabbed a drink, at the hotel’s bar Spirits & Tales and we found cozy seats near large windows to relax before grabbing dinner.
We had grander plans of visiting Shadyside Neighborhood, perhaps a restaurant like Butcher and the Rye for dinner downtown and be more lively in the evening, but per usual, those plans were foiled because I’m picky and need naps like a toddler. We did make our way to Fuel and Fuddle, a restaurant down the street that Matt found on Yelp, and it was absolutely delicious and super casual, just what I needed. I ordered a breakfast pizza with olive oil, mozzarella, chorizo, bacon and scrambled eggs and I ate all but two pieces and then we headed to the Milk Shake Factory, another Yelp find, to over indulge in the best ice cream dessert I ever tasted.
And that was it–no other fun evening plans, but I did get caught up on some much needed sleep in that beautiful hotel room. We ended our visit to Pittsburgh with a $8 pour over and a smooth iced latte at Constellation Coffee before heading back to Michigan Sunday morning.
What I’m Wearing
Since it was sunny and warmer than Michigan, I packed this super cute dress from Target that I snagged on sale. It reminded me of a Free People dress, but a quarter of the price and so I bought it in medium and styled it with my favorite mules and Lack of Color hat. Try these similar mules that are woven and just $35! ย
