My most worn shoes so far this summer for a mix of work and play: Golden Goose sneakers, Chanel loafers and Steve Madden ballet flats. These are the three pairs of shoes I packed for a work conference on Mackinac Island and this approach works for my life off the island: what’s comfy, chic and mixes and matches the best with any of my clothes.
The Shoes
I’m reaching for my neutral pair ofย Golden Goose sneakers more and more again since I love how light these are and how easy they are to slip on–no lacing up required. I have several versions of this shoe but I like the light color and this pair matches everything in my closet.
The Chanel loafers were a gift to myself this past December and they’re easily one of my most worn shoes (along with the Chanel beige and black ballet flats I also bought.) They elevate any look and super comfortable. I bought these through personal shopper Christina who works for Neiman Marcus. You can also search secondhand luxury sites like Fashionphile or the Real Real or check Poshmark (I’ve bought lots of secondhand designer shoes from Poshmark. Just really know your size because you can’t return.)
I wanted a simple pair of ballet flats I could just wear the hell out of without care and these Steve Maddens are it. They broke in immediately and while I wish there was a little more support for 15K a steps a day, they hold up well and can be worn with almost anything. Catching a theme here? It’s all about wardrobe staples that provide ease and comfort in a classic style.
Pictured below: Chanel dad sandals. I bought these three or four summers ago and zero regrets buying these. These Birkenstocks are similar and priced just over $200.
Honorable mention to my beige and black ballet slippers (similar.) I’ll be wearing these for years and years! I also just bought a pair of black Chanel ballet flats from Poshmark that I’m sure I’ll be getting at on of wear with.
The one heel I’ve been wearing on repeat is a white slingback from Zara that’s sold out, but they’re comfy and add a bit more sophistication to a summer work look. Here’s a similar pair from Zara!
