This town is your quintessential small quaint town with the most adorable downtown shopping district. Every season is a delight here (I often come here in the summer and have kayaked down the Rogue River that runs through town), but the holiday winter season is by far my favorite. The shops are decorated, the town is bustling and there are plenty of activities for folks to take part in. Feels like it’s out of a Hallmark Christmas movie.
There are a ton of events like carriage rides, petting zoo, Santa, scavenger hunt, an ugly sweater party and more. They even have a lighting ceremony like every Hallmark movie I watch. It is very focused on Christmas, but also very family friendly.
Where to Sip/Eat
Sweetlands is the coffee shop in town. It’s delicious, plus it doubles a chocolate shop and I can’t help myself, I always leave with a couple milk chocolate caramels and dark chocolate mint truffles.
For lunch, I love the Rockford Corner Bar for a hot dog and fries. I personally prefer a casual eatery so this place is perfect.
I also suggest you make a stop at Monarch Bakery. They’ve got baked goods and pastries and vegan options as well. I’ve tried the vanilla and pumpkin cake pops and v good!
Rockford Cheese Shop! We walked through here and my friend picked up a bottle of wine while we perused the long list of cheeses they carry and the carry out options and crackers, honey and jams they had for sale. If I needed a platter or charcuterie board, I would come her.
Where to Shop
My friend Haley recently introduced me to Gather-d, a home decor and clothing shop brimming with a wide range of quality candles, everything from living room to kitchen items, women’s clothing and more. The actual boutique spaces has lots of little nooks to explore, curated with slightly different themes like what I’d call a men’s area, kitchen area, etc. It’s decked out for the holidays and is a great spot for finding gifts for a ton of people on your list.
I bought a gift for Rob from a men’s clothing and lifestyle store called Everywear. Great quality clothing and accessories here, plus perfect stocking stuffers that I even wanted like the travel-sized fragrances and wool beanies.
Another adorable home decor and clothing shop? Cloth and Cabin. It’s hidden a bit in an upstairs building but there’s plenty of signage to lead you straight to the stairs to the adorable store.
Popped into Lee and Birch and Era (Emily got a handful of fun and pretty packaged card games, and I usually pick up PF Candle Co. candles here!) There are several more women’s clothing shops and a toy store and so much more. Here’s a list of stores downtown!
