I saw so much potential for this deck when I moved in almost a year ago and finally I had time to prioritize this space, on a budget! I created a few vignettes, a dining area, relaxing areas and the grilling corner. Read on for the details!
The Furniture
The table and chairs (similar here) and striped umbrella (similar here) moved with me from the old house (all from Target including the rug beneath it!) As I searched for outdoor couches, many were well beyond my budget and/or out of stock until late summer. I found this one from Houzz on sale under $500 and it included the coffee table. It took almost a month to reach me, but worth the wait.
I also bought the larger umbrella from Target for $75. This deck is in full sun most of the day and it was a high priority for me to find an affordable 10 in umbrella with weights that could stand the winds that tend to knock everything over here.
Rob and I also included some secondhand items from his parents. Rob found this chair in his dad’s barn and Rob’s mom didn’t want the side glass table, which has been perfect for displaying plants and filling in the gap between the chair and couch.
The Accessories
The pillows are from Target, World Market and Home Goods–my three top places for pillow shopping. I like mixing textures, colors and prints to brighten it up especially since everything is grey.
Both rugs are from Target along with some faux plants, this citronella candle and pretty pots (these cheap ones and this.) I also have one faux plant from Home Goods and plan to add a few more from Nearly Natural. Here’s a similar rug and another to the one under the table and this one under the sectional.)
I’ve bought my real plants from Home Depot and Lowe’s and those are so quickly dying on me that I probably need more fake ones.
The solar lights attached to the deck are also from Target and add some much needed ambiance in the evening that the motion light doesn’t provide us. I also bought these string lights, but haven’t hung them yet!
I also love an outdoor ottoman/pouf! They’re so versatile, you can use them as chairs if you need additional seating or kick your feet up.
