Like most others, my work and daily life has changed dramatically since the stay at home order and COVID-19 hitting Michigan hard.
I’ve gotten more into a groove with working from home 100 percent, but have recently made a few more tweaks now that Matt is back in the office and I’m trying to be a little more healthy.
Wake Up
I’ve been waking up around 8 a.m. with all three dogs napping with me. At this point, Matt has already fed them and they slowly work their way back up to sleep with me until I wake up. .
I do my normal morning routine of toothbrushing, skincare routine and let the dogs back out as soon as I’m out of bed.
Getting Ready
I follow up with getting dressed, putting a face on and opening my laptop to send out that daily email to my colleagues to share what my day looks like: what calls I have and what projects I’m working on. I usually get settled for the first half of my day at this table in my dining nook and work the afternoons at my vanity turned office desk. This spot is my favorite in the house for working and for comfort so if Matt is at work for the day, I can get away sitting all day with no distractions.
If I’m up sooner than 8 a.m. (for a few weeks I was up at 7 am), I try to film more on Instagram stories when I feel motivated–this is sharing my haircare, skincare and more.
Breakfast
Once I get ready for my day, some emails sent, I’m ready for BREAKFAST! Usually this is around 9 a.m. Lately, it’s been oatmeal with a big blob of peanut butter and sprinkled with cinnamon and an egg or a slice of wheat toast with peanut butter and an egg. Lately, I’ve been real into a one egg omelet with some cheese and hot pepper flakes–super simple and quick. I also drink a Red Bull and refill my water bottle (it’s this $10 one!
And now that my favorite coffee shop has reopened for curbside, I plan on venturing out a little earlier to get my coffee fix–an iced latte or iced London fog. If you’re local, Foster Coffee is opened back up downtown East Lansing!
Addressing my Anxieties
I’ve felt very anxious and emotional lately with work and I’m remembering to take my CBD pill every morning. I did pause my monthly subscription because I was feeling better for a while, but anxiety reared its ugly head again and definitely need this to calm me.
I also revisit my passion planner almost daily for reflecting, keeping up on my to-do list and taking notes, which also helps me feel less anxious.
Working Out
Lately, I haven’t been able to dedicate much time to work out, but I try to take the dogs out in the morning, afternoon and evening–and get some time in on my stationary bike around noon. If I have the time, I love the 30 minute FLEXcity Fitness virtual class that kicks off at 8:45. I do wear my Apple Watch everyday so I can track and compare my steps–I just want to be moving everyday and I set little goals throughout the day which helps me take a break from work and move with the dogs outside.
