I styled two looks for potential holiday parties. With Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holidays approaching, there could very well be dressed up occasions and more casual occasions that need something beyond jeans and leggings. I partnered with Sparrow Boutique on a couple ideas!
The Dressed Up Holiday Attire
Velvet is a great fabric choice for winter holidays–it’s warm, plus feels and looks luxurious. In recent years, I’ve drifted from dressier dresses, but I have work parties and friends’ parties that require it this year!
My preference is a midi length dress or skirt (like this Free People black midi Sparrow carries), but I loved the silhouette of this mini velvet dress especially with the long sleeves to balance out the dress length. Plus the rouging detail is flattering on every body shape. I paired with a new faux fur coat from Sparrow and black ankle boots I bought from Sparrow last winter (these boots have been restocked!)
The Dressed Down Holiday Look
I love the faux leather joggers–something that you can easily dress up just by shoe choice, but I intentionally styled it casually with sneakers as this would be the look I’d wear home for Thanksgiving or Christmas. My family holiday gatherings are very casual–wear what’s comfortable with expandable waist (like this drawstring jogger!) I paired the joggers with the leopard print sweater, something cozy and chic I’d wear with jeans or a skirt too.
Both of these key pieces are incredibly versatile and together with sneakers, make it a casual holiday look that’s a little more creative beyond the jeans or leggings I might lazily choose.
Now which is style is more you?! I’m definitely a more casual style woman, but if it’s a long sleeved mini dress, I might change my mind.
