I wore this look last Saturday for a day trip back to the hometown and instead of choosing one giant winter layer for the 30 degree day, I opted to layer jackets.
Saturday Layered Style
Before I left for Muskegon, I was about to lose my mind trying to find a graphic tee I wanted to wear as the first layer. I had this outfit idea in my head for a few hours, but couldn’t find any of the graphic tees I envisioned.
With the basement reno and foster dog, I keep misplacing things and becoming more and more absent minded. I never found the tee I was looking for, but I did find the adios tee I bought last summer that was hidden in the closet.
I knew the new plaid coat would be too light of a coat to wear last weekend, but was set on wearing it with the fuzzy bomber jacket–and I loved how these layered over each other. The mix of textures and colors seamlessly fit together with black jeans, white boots and a winter beanie.
My mom and I did some shopping, grabbed chili dogs from G&L and then I headed back to the doggies where I started to rewatch Game of Thrones for the millionth time!
Recreating the Look
To create the look, think about layering jackets with varying silhouettes, patterns and textures. The fuzzy bomber layered perfectly under the sleek plaid jacket.
I liked layering a longer jacket over the bomber, plus the plaid jacket is light and didn’t seem bulky at all over top. Just try things on in your closet that feels comfortable together and makes you feel good.
You can shop the plaid jacket at Le Fleur, but unfortunately the bomber is completely sold out. My friend Jess showed me the cute jacket she got from her husband for Christmas and within moments, I bought myself the same one in a different color. You can shop a similar bomber in black or my favorite, copper! And Gap has this version in navy or cream, which my friend Katie owns and it looks so cute on her!
Looking for a pair of white boots? This pair is 60% off (and comes in black.) Plus I love these Dolce Vita boots with the black chunky heel or these sale Seychelles with a natural wood chunky heel!

I never thought of layering plaid over a coat. It’s always been an inner piece of clothing to me. But I like it, what a refreshing idea! ๐ โค๏ธ
