Fall dressing is all about cozy closet staples that can be continually remixed throughout the season. It’s a mix of functionality, practicality and fashion–hey it has to be all of these things in Michigan!
This look for me is everything I love about fall: layers and boots while incorporating the season’s trends, a mix of on-trend and classic fall attire.
Autumn Style Staples
A mix of trendy pieces like shearling or camo print mixed with timeless fall classics is a great way to create a fall capsule wardrobe without spending a ton or get burnt out on wearing the same shit. ย In the fall, you’ll always find me in some mix of a vest, tunic, black leggings or pants and boots of some kind–and I never get sick of it since there’s such variety in styling and remixing what you already have.
Read on for some classics and fresh fall trends to create a stylish, yet timeless fall capsule wardrobe.
The Vest
Vests are so functional for me this time of year–it adds more warmth and helps me achieve that layered look I love whether I’m going for an athleisure look or a more polished, professional look for work. I love an oversized vest and I’m wearing this shearling vest in a size large so that it easily fits over anything I might wear whether’s a thin chambray top or thick sweatshirt. This vest is another fave–I love it in olive and camo. This sale vest by North Face is 55% off and I ordered in green a few weeks ago–LOVE it.
Touches of Shearling + Sherpa
Sparrow Boutique has a fleece jacket that gives me major fall + sherpa vibes–they’re reordering it too so more sizes to come online. This faux shearling coat is such a great price and comes in three pretty colors, all of which are colors I’m especially loving this fall like olive and rust. And this 90s style denim jacket is complete with a sherpa collar, another great piece to shop for fall.
Camo All the Way
I’m back on a camo kick and can’t get enough of the print like these Z Supply overalls that I have in black and green–they also come in camo! Also obsessed with this camo weekender pullover–I bought it last year and still one of my favorite sweatshirt tunics to wear at least weekly! Sparrow has it cheaper here, just left in a medium though. If you’re looking for a light jacket to toss on, this cropped camo version is so damn cute.
Classic Tops, Tunics and Sweaters
I love the cozy basics you put underneath the trendy camo jacket or vest–these pieces last me years and remix them season after season.
One of my favorites right now is this cropped fleece pullover. I own it in camo and I see this grey sweatshirt is ON SALE and I’m going to order it right now! It’s so flattering with high rise leggings. The weekender pullover I mentioned earlier comes in black and olive too, the perfect solid, not-so-basic layering piece I promise you’ll love as much as I do.
If you’re on the hunt for a classic ribbed turtleneck tunic, this $59 sweater comes in black, cream and grey–so, so pretty and looks a lot more expensive. Or this knit turtleneck sweater is $19.99! I also really like these $20 fine-knit sweaters that come in a variety of colors–they would layer well over a pair of leggings and could easily style up for work or a lazy weekend with uggs!
