Nashville might be known for its music scene, but its also has an established coffee scene where everyone can find their perfect cup of coffee and preferred ambiance. Plus, everyone is incredibly friendly and helpful across the board–wonderful customer service, delicious coffee and cozy atmospheres no matter where you go. Read on for a round up of my coffee shop picks!
1. Barista Parlor
Barista Parlor is the first coffee shop I experienced in Nashville back in 2011/2012 and now it’s quite established, boasting five locations. The vibe is art gallery meets auto shop, a little industrial but not at all sterile. The original location in East Nashville is my favorite location especially in the summer with its outdoor patio (photo above is at the Germantown location.) Barista Parlor serves up pour overs, but if you prefer a flavored creamy latte, try the vanilla bourbon or whiskey caramel (the latter being my fave.)
2. Stay Golden
Stay Golden is a hybrid of cozy cafe and coffee shop with a full bar, the perfect spot for a weekend brunch. Plus it’s one of the most beautifully and thoughtfully designed spots–both locations in Berry Hill and East Nashville. Be sure to check out their breakfast and lunch offerings–they have a solid breakfast sandwich menu, delicious pastries and specialty coffee beverages to choose from. Pro tip: try their cuban latte with sweet condensed milk!
3. Cafe Roze
The aesthetic is what brought me in with it’s light pink walls and marble counter tops, but the coffee and breakfast is what keeps bringing me back year after year. Cafe Roze is easily one of my favorite spots in East Nashville. It has bit of a sophisticated menu, one that my palate doesn’t fully appreciate but Matt loves the egg bowl and virtually any dish he’s tried. I love the iced lattes, pastries and bacon. Seriously though, that bacon.
4. Poindexter
Poindexter, located inside of the Graduate Hotel in Midtown, is brand new and it was such an experience to check out this funky yet opulent hotel and coffee shop. I met up with my friend Laura who ordered a latte and I got the mocha, a smooth, not-too-sweet version that I’m already craving yet again. There’s ample seating with funky furniture throughout, gilded light fixtures and lots of natural light, a perfect place to relax in before kicking off your day.
5. Crema Coffee Roasters
Truly one of the best places for a cup of joe is Crema. I’ve been here a handful of times over the years and knew Matt would appreciate the pour over menu while I craved another mocha–seriously one of the best I’ve ever had. Matt also tried the quiche which he gobbled up quickly. It’s located in SoBro, so close to downtown and has a small parking lot so I like to run in and run out!
6. Steadfast
Locals seem to love Steadfast Coffee–I visited this spot for the first time on a rainy Saturday morning and the place was packed with individuals working on laptops and having quiet, intimate conversations. It’s small, but a beautiful space in Germantown and I fully enjoyed my iced latte down to the last sip.
7. Kettner Coffee Supply
Kettner is such a hip little coffee shop located in East Nashville in a newer development, right next to a small bookstore. I love the playful art and decor and the ample seating along with the shop’s motto “high standards, low morals.” Matt grabbed a cup of drip coffee and I tried the cinnamon latte–the least sweet of all the flavored lattes I’ve had, but still heavenly.
8. Frothy Monkey
Another Nashville staple, Frothy Monkey is a coffee shop I visited often early on in my visits to Nashville. The 12 South location is its original location and the only one I’ve visited, but it’s cozy and inviting with solid coffee and tasty breakfast sandwiches. And there are several more locations now sprinkled throughout the city.
9. Revelator Coffee
This coffee shop must’ve more recently made its way to Nashville’s Midtown right by Vanderbilt’s campus. I’ve frequented Revelator in Atlanta and while I didn’t get a chance to get coffee here, I can report the ambiance is just like the other locations I’ve experienced–and I bet the coffee is just as good.
10. East Park Donuts
I didn’t test out the coffee at East Park, but I can attest to the delicious donuts based on my local friend’s recommendation. Small, quaint and lots of donut options along with a full coffee menu.
