Now that I’m a month into my new job, I’m beginning to experience the challenges of professional work attire. If I could, I’d live in the same pair of jeans and oversized tee, but I’ve retired that to weekend wear and spend my weekdays looking like a public relations professional. It’s a challenge I’m willing to accept: to combine my personal style with what’s required of me to maintain a professional appearance.
I always find dresses can be the most fun because of their versatility and easiness to toss on. And in the mornings, I just don’t want to spend much time piecing together different articles of clothing. This particular dress didn’t require much effort to style and the older ladies at work loved it and that’s a win in my book.

Thanks to my friend, Tom, for being willing to take my outfit photos! I’m notorious for guilting non-photographer friends to photograph me.

love love love the necklace; in a way, reminds me of piano keys, the slim structure. or something that had once been the bones of some fantastical creature.

Gorgeous as usual Andrea! And Tom did a great job photographing. I am way too much of a control freak to let others photograph me most of the time.

Girrrrrrrrrl! Dressing for work is an ONGOING struggle in my life. I have had to do business casual since the week I graduated from college. You better believe I live in my leggings on the weekend.
You look stunning, as per usual. And Chicago still misses you.

I work in a business casual/professional office environment too and I'm wondering how short do you think is too short for dresses in the office?
The dress you're wearing is gorgeous but it almost seems a little short for office wear. Do you think that by wearing tight/thigh highs helps bring back some of that 'conservativeness'?
I love to wear crazy things outside of work, and I feel like I'm totally over the typical conservative office clothing… Did you have anyone say anything to you about the length or did it seem like no big deal?

Oh lovely! I totally agree with your point, when at home you can be as comfortable and free as a bird. You do not have to bother about your style and clothes. But at the work place you have to be absolutely prim and proper. It might be really taxing and challenging to keep up to your style when it comes to getting dressed everyday in the morning, but believe me, all that effort pays off when your colleagues cannot stop themselves from complementing your outfit or envying your personality.
